Rihanna stole the show during the Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday night, but some fans were baffled by the sultry energy she brought to the stage.
The Shine Bright Like a Diamond singer, 34, wowed fans in an all-red ensemble, and in a swooping dance move, appeared to grab her crotch before licking and smelling her fingers.
Her risque show saw her belt out some of her greatest hits, including Run This Town and We Found Love at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, where the Philadelphia Eagles took on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Rihanna, who has now confirmed she’s pregnant, hasn’t performed on live TV since 2018 when she joined DJ Khaled to sing Wild Thoughts at the Grammy Awards.
Her Super Bowl comeback didn’t disappoint fans who had missed her signature energy.
Rihanna started off the show suspended on a platform elevated above the field as she belted out her single B**** Better Have My Money.
The monumental performance is also her first show since giving birth to her first child in May of 2022. She shares her son, whose name hasn’t been released, with her partner of three years, the rapper A$AP Rocky, and soon after she left the stage, representatives confirmed that Rihanna is definitely pregnant again.
One fan, commenting on her seductive performance, said that the Rihanna show was extremely cool, but that there were one or two parts where they had to cover the kid’s eyes, but it was mostly very cool.
Another added: ‘Rihanna, Great show and production. Awesome seeing all the choreography. I enjoyed it. Could have done with less crotch grabbing, my parents are watching, Ri!’
Despite some viewers loving her sultry dance moves, others said that it made for some awkward halftime viewing for football fans watching with their families.
One person said that they thought that Rihanna’s crotch rubbing was extremely off-putting and completely unwarranted. While another added that they just saw Rihanna sniff her crotch with their mom, thanks NFL.
Another, more critical observer, said that it was low energy and gross, why did she grab her crotch, then smell it and that it was a terrible show for their kids. And a fourth said that a fully clothed Rihanna’s hand was fairly close to her crotch and that clearly, family values had been completely lost in their country.
Most of these singers are boring because most have no originality and so many sound the same, and the sniffing was just nasty, and she has no style, and there are only two words for Rihanna, attention-grabbing, and also her performance was way too sexual for a sporting event where families were there with their children.
This was indeed a low point and these halftime performances really should be suitable for family viewing.
Rihanna knew that this was a family affair but she still did a show which was unsuitable for children to watch, and what makes it even worse is she’s pregnant, and I don’t know why these celebrities think it’s okay to act like this especially knowing that some of their fans are young and impressionable.
And why was she rubbing her crotch – does she have a yeast infection?
This is yet another celebrity showing the world that she doesn’t care that families of all ages and impressionable young girls around the globe are watching the halftime show, but then sexual insinuations and promoting trashy behaviour are more important to these egomaniacs, and I can’t believe that this disgusting display wasn’t stopped immediately.
