A bus passenger who fell asleep and awoke to find himself locked inside a darkened bus smashed his way out while filming himself swearing in despair.
A video of the foul-mouthed rant by the unknown man has gone viral on social media.
In the film, posted on Snapchat and later re-uploaded to TikTok, the man begins by screaming: ‘I just want to go home. I am locked in a f* bus. Help me please.’
As he continues to swear he finally manages to break a window and climbs out. However, he’s still unable to get out of the bus depot and continues to yell and rave as he endeavours to climb over a wall.
Bus company officials on the Isle of Man have confirmed they’re investigating the incident which took place in the early hours of the morning at the Vannin Bus Depot in Douglas.
The video begins with the man begging for help saying: ‘I can’t get out. What do I do?’
He tries to open a locked door but says: ‘It doesn’t work. Get me out of this stupid bus. I’m trapped. It’s quarter past three in the morning.
‘I’ve had to smash the bus window open so I can go home. Cheers for that. It’s really made my weekend.’
After departing through the broken window the man speaks into the camera saying he was now standing on top of a Department of Infrastructure van to help climb an 18ft fence around the deserted bus depot.
The video concludes with the angry passenger saying: ‘The p**** did not wake me up.’
It subsequently emerged that the man had broken a window, but failed to use the emergency exit at the back of the bus that would have permitted him to exit without causing any damage.
A spokesman for Isle of Man police said they’re investigating the incident.
The spokesman said that they’d been made aware of a video circulating social media on the island of a male who was locked inside a bus during the early hours on Sunday, October 22nd.
The spokesman said that as a result of being locked in, the man was seen smashing a window to exit the bus and that they could confirm both the male in the video and personnel at Bus Vannin had been in communication with the police regarding the incident which would now be the subject of an investigation.
These kinds of things can happen, and I’m assuming that he used his phone to document the incident as evidence so that he wouldn’t feel so isolated, and just because the man was filming himself doesn’t mean that he wasn’t panicking.
It might all appear a tad melodramatic, but what if it was YOU who was enclosed in a darkened bus after waking up, you would panic as well. You might not be in a bus depot in Afghanistan, but nevertheless, you would be in an enclosed space, and let’s face it, who uses logic when they wake up in a darkened bus?
Although, it does make you wonder why he didn’t just call emergency services to get him out.
The point that’s missing is that he should never have been locked on the bus in the first place. Typically, when a bus pulls into a depot, it’s checked in case bags, phones or anything important is discovered, and then normally the bus is given a wash, so how did the driver miss him? But of course, he will get charged for the vandalism.
