OHCHR OPT has received troubling news alleging that Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) summarily killed at least 11 unarmed Palestinian men in front of their family members in the AI Remal neighbourhood, Gaza City, which raises alarm about the likely commission of war crime.
This comes in the wake of earlier allegations concerning the intentional targeting and slaying of civilians at the hands of Israeli forces.
The Israeli authorities must immediately initiate an independent, thorough and effective investigation into these allegations, and if found to be substantiated, those accountable must be brought to justice and measures enforced to stop any such serious breaches from recurring.
On 19 December 2023, between 2000 and 2300 hours, IDF reportedly surrounded and raided the Al Awda building, also known as the Annan building, in the Al Remal neighbourhood, Gaza City, where three related families were sheltering in addition to the Annan family.
According to eyewitness reports circulated by media sources and Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, while in possession of the building and the civilians sheltering there, the IDF allegedly separated the men from the women and children, and then shot and killed at least 11 of the men, mainly aged in their late 20’s and early 30’s, in front of their family members.
The IDF then allegedly ordered the women and children into a room, and either shot at them or tossed a grenade into the room, reportedly seriously injuring some of them, including a baby and a child.
OHCHR has confirmed the killings at the AI Awda building, although the facts and circumstances of the slayings are still under verification. IDF has not released any details on the incident.
If this is correct, then this is a terrible crime, but the UN reports are about as reliable as Hamas so I would like to see independent confirmation.
Apparently, hospital staff and patients were bulldozed alive into the ground. This is an inhumane war and crimes have been committed.
If this is true, then this is extremely bad. However, we should remain sceptical until we know the facts, considering how much propaganda has been coming out of Gaza.
The fact that this is but one instance of what has been the case for decades and goes on with impunity, and this is criminal, evil and inhumane.
This is shocking but not unexpected, and all criminals should be brought to account. However, where is the proof here, there seems to be a lot of alleging going on, but this is what war looks like.
If this did happen this is just pure evil, but then why am I surprised, and this is what genocide looks like.
This war is all about land and who it belongs to, and people will kill for that. They are all greedy fascist sociopaths, Palestine and Israel. It’s just land, they can’t take it with them when they die. Did both sides forget that the land is to make good for future generations, by the time they’re finished there will be nobody living on it to make good, you’ll all be dead and what does it say in the Bible, ‘Thou shalt not kill’. Good luck with that one!
It’s a ‘he said, she said’ allegation, which means nothing until the facts are in front of us in black and white.
This is genocide pure and simple. I say let them get on with it because it’s not our war, it’s their war and they will fight until they’re all dead. I suppose we could drop a bomb on them. Maybe they need a wake-up call!
