EASTENDERS fans plead to axe a ‘pointless’ character and leave Walford for good after just two years in the soap.
Reiss Colwell’s (played by Jonny Freeman) current storyline sees him deal with the stress of IVF with partner Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy).
Sonia is yet to learn that Reiss had taken money from his comatose wife, Debbie Colwell (Jenny Meier), to pay for their IVF treatment.
BBC viewers have suggested that Debbie would be close to waking up, which would complicate any preparations for having a baby.
However, some viewers have grown tired of seeing Reiss on television and are pleading with the show’s producers to fire him.
Taking to social media, one said, “Reiss is so weird. There’s not one thing that’s interesting or attractive about him. Why have they paired Sonia with this plank?”
Another wrote, “What is the point of Sonia and Reiss?”
A third penned: “Can someone write Reiss out of #eastenders, please?”
A fourth added: “The sooner Reiss leaves, the better.”
Jonny joined the EastEnders cast at the end of 2022 as Reiss, the great-nephew of the late Dot Branning (June Brown).
He arrived in Walford following Dot’s funeral and established a friendship with Sonia, which has since turned romantic.
Before joining the BBC soap, Jonny previously appeared in Silent Witness, Top Boy, Holby City, Doctors, and Dalziel and Pascoe.
Away from Albert Square, Jonny is unrecognisable without his character Reiss’ signature thick-rimmed glasses and unruly beard.
His carefully manicured beard and captivating emerald eyes are flaunted on his social media accounts.

Fans flocked to the comment section to swoon over the actor’s everyday appearance.
One wrote, “Very handsome; we should have kept him like that.”
A second said, “What a difference… shocker.”
A third person exclaimed, “Omg, he is so good-looking; he looks so different in real life.”
On BBC One and BBC iPlayer, EastEnders airs from Monday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Jonny Freeman is the great-nephew of Dot Branning (June Brown) and a love interest for Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy). Jonny plays the bumbling Reiss Colwell in Eastenders, and he plays his character so well. People might believe there’s no point to his character on Eastenders, but I believe that there’s going to be a brilliant storyline to his character and that it will definitely keep people glued to their armchairs in the not-too-distant future.
He’s a refreshing character on Eastenders because of his bumbling character, and I’m sure there will be many people out there who will be able to connect with his character. He’s not only quirky, but he’s very funny at times as well, and how Sonia puts up with him is beyond me.
He’s a delight to have on the show, and if he were to disappear, which no doubt he will do eventually, then I think it would be a very sad day for Eastenders.
Eastenders, however, has become very drab recently, with characters disappearing and being killed off. I hope they bring some new talent to the show that will give the show a bit of umph because, at the moment, it’s as deflated as a whoopie cushion.
Sonia Fowler deserves some love in her life, and with Reiss, she seems to have got that, but I fear that it will not end well and will be very sad.
Reiss is a delightful character, and Jonny really does do the character justice. He’s kind but socially awkward, and it’s great how he manages his character, or at times, doesn’t manage his character. I would imagine that at times on set, Sonia and Reiss have had some great laughs.
