It’s Easy To Sneer

Making things appear simple is part of the royal art.

Right now, the Princes of Wales is beginning her long recuperation at home from abdominal surgery.

For everyone, recovering from a major procedure is a difficult task. It must be even harder for a mother of three under such scrutiny.

Other than her closest friends and family, Catherine won’t want to see anyone. Thankfully, her father Mike, sister Pippa, brother James, and mother Carole provide her with strong support.

Despite the fact that they will miss their mother, she will be happy to see her kids again after a two-week absence.

Everything is going according to plan so far. It’s also true, though, that we put a great deal of strain on our front-line royals.

While we retain the right to regard them as neighbours, we want them to act with all the grandeur and sophistication of the British royal family.

The princess intends to “work from bed” at Adelaide Cottage, the Windsor residence of the royal family, according to reports. A modern Windsor, wise or not, cannot afford to appear uninterested.

No matter how worn out and exposed Kate feels, she’s probably trying to keep up the unattainable glamour we’ve grown accustomed to.

Situations like this demonstrate the thin line we expect her and other female royals to walk.

Princess Diana once said that however much she was revered and worshipped, she’d remained nervous and insecure.

Her fans had clear ideas about who she was. She knew nothing of them.

Diana said she’d felt the presence of press photographers was akin to being raped by the camera. Whatever she did or said, she felt they were there to get her. She felt powerless.

Fortunately, she was not around when social media became prevalent, as her daughter-in-law is currently having to deal with it.

It’s commendable that William and Catherine have taken steps to safeguard and maintain the privacy of their children.

It’s easy to mock a world of luxury, complete with nannies, maids, and never-ending expensive clothing. And many do.

Just have a look at the commotion that erupted when it was suggested that Kate and William’s nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, would be making over £100,000.

If so, her pay is commensurate with that of other Norland nannies with a similar level of expertise. Ever since Prince George was eight months old in 2014, Teresa has worked for the family.

They need paid help—lots of it—just to keep the show on the road and keep up the appearances we demand.

Not everyone will sympathise with the Waleses, who are cooped up in Windsor under 24-hour security.

However, a life of constant scrutiny, limitless responsibilities, and trolling is a small price to pay for a little evening glitz and a closet full of luxury dresses.

Make no mistake, Catherine would have married well and been content to raise a family in privacy. She didn’t marry Will for the wealth and fame.

She’s only a working royal, but Will and Catherine’s glances at one another tell you they’re in love.

Though it’s obvious that Catherine would rather be a wife and mother than a hollow, empty vessel pursuing fame and power, she is a kind person who stands by her husband. William made a wise choice.

Some people are cut out for the royal family; others are not. We can all sneer and snigger about the royal family, but if it was you who had to do it, I’m not sure some could do the same job as they do.

Just put yourselves in their shoes. Imagine being somewhere and there being scores of paparazzi standing there with flashbulbs going off. Having to watch everything you say and do and living in a constant fishbowl.

There’s no fun at the weekends, going out with your girlfriends and acting up in public; it’s a trade-off, one for the other, and most people couldn’t handle it.

My vision on life is pretty broad, therefore I like to address specific subjects that intrigue me. Therefore I really appreciate the world of politics, though I have no actual views on who I will vote for, that I will not tell you, so please do not ask! I am like an observation station when it comes to writing, and I simply take the news and make it my own. I have no expectations, I simply love to write, and I know this seems really odd, but I don't get paid for it, I really like what I do and since I am never under any pressure, I constantly find that I write much better, rather than being blanketed under masses of paperwork and articles that I am on a deadline to complete. The chances are, that whilst all other journalists are out there, ripping their hair out, attempting to get their articles completed, I'm simply rambling along at my convenience creating my perfect piece. I guess it must look pretty unpleasant to some of you that I work for nothing, perhaps even brutal. Perhaps I have an obvious disregard for authority, I have no idea, but I would sooner be working for myself, than under somebody else, excuse the pun! Small I maybe, but substantial I will become, eventually. My desk is the most chaotic mess, though surprisingly I know where everything is, and I think that I would be quite unsuited for a desk job. My views on matters vary and I am extremely open-minded to the stuff that I write about, but what I write about is the truth and getting it out there, because the people must be acquainted. Though I am quite entertained by what goes on in the world. My spotlight is mostly to do with politics, though I do write other material as well, but it's essentially politics that I am involved in, and I tend to concentrate my attention on that, however, information is essential. If you have information the possibilities are endless because you are only limited by your own imagination...
