Home Office cops broke down doors across the country amid an ‘arms race’ against people smugglers.
As part of a statewide assault on a ring accused of smuggling migrants into Britain via land, sea, and air, immigration officers staged synchronised dawn raids across England.
Officers booted down doors at residences in Southampton, Huddersfield, Middlesbrough, and Stockport, apprehending four people.
The group is said to have operated across Europe, smuggling up to 50 illegal immigrants on commercial flights while hiding in cars and on boats.
Additionally, they may have forged blank visas, national identity cards, and passports for a total of £1,000 apiece.
Home Office criminal and financial investigator Paul Harvey, who helped coordinate the operation, said officials were in an ‘arms race’ with organised crime rings.
Asked if it was frustrating that gangs are constantly changing their tactics, Mr Harvey said: ‘Absolutely, It’s basically an arms race as fast as we can go and detect these people.
‘They will move on to the next addresses as part of being an organised crime group. It is reasonable to expect that they will move around different areas.
‘Obviously, organised immigration crime is a UK-wide problem so these people are spreading across the country and that’s why this morning we’ve got officers working nationally to go and deal with a specific organised crime.’
‘They [the gang] were quite sophisticated; they used different methods. It’s not a normal boat-smuggling operation. These people use sophisticated methods.’
Officers in Southampton struck at first light, breaking down a door with a battering ram and crowbar before taking one guy into custody.
It coincides with the fact that over 6,000 individuals have entered this year in small boats, and lawmakers are about to allow Rwandan deportation flights.
Minister for Countering Illegal Migration, Michael Tomlinson, stated: ‘We’re working day and night to dismantle the criminal gangs who are trying to turn a profit by abusing our borders.
‘These arrests make clear if you are involved in this kind of criminality, you can expect our teams to find you and bring you to justice, wherever you are in the UK.’
In the first nine months of 2023, there were over 10,500 enforcement visits, a 53% increase over the same time in 2022.
Home Office Immigration Enforcement successfully prosecuted 141 traffickers in 2023 alone; 80 of them were found guilty of operating small boats.
However, it appears it’s all for show with TV cameras at the ready, et cetera, so that it looks like they’re doing something, but in fact, our government have no intention of controlling our borders.
It resembles a skillfully done public relations campaign.
Four people were apprehended. Wow, that will change things.
Nothing will happen to these four people; they will be treated as victims, and when they are brought to court, the judge will take pity on them and refuse to lock them up. This is the level of wokeness that is happening within the UK judiciary.
