Following the horrific stabbing of a 13-year-old girl in Yorkshire on Friday morning, a teenage male has been charged with attempted murder.
The young girl, who was found by passersby, had suffered serious lacerations, including stab wounds to her neck, back, chest, and abdomen.
The teenager was charged with attempted murder in addition to possessing a bladed object.
The 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been remanded into custody to appear at Hull Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
When passing motorists spotted the wounded teenager by the side of the A63 outside of Hessle, Yorkshire, early on Friday morning, Humberside Police were rushed to the scene.
Behind the Humber View Hotel, in a wooded area that borders a sizable meadow, the event took place.
The hotel had previously been taken over by the Home Office to house young male asylum seekers. But reopened to the public over the summer and appeared largely deserted.
Emergency services attended the scene, discovering the girl, 13 years old, had sustained multiple life-threatening lacerations.
She was subsequently taken to the hospital to receive medical treatment, where she now remains in a serious but stable condition.
An area search was conducted and six teenagers were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in a wooded area nearby in connection with the incident.
Allegedly, the six teenagers were discovered clustered around the remnants of a fire with empty beer cans surrounding them.
Three teenage boys, aged 15, 16, and 17 years old, and two girls, aged 14 and 15 years old, have since been released from custody on police bail.
The incident on the outskirts of North Ferriby, a quiet community with a view of the Humber Bridge, has surprised the locals.
One woman whose home adjoins the meadow, but on the other side of the field to the woods where the girl was attacked, said, ‘We just saw the police there and that.
‘My husband was in the garden and just happened to see the police there and these two tents. It is terrible.
‘You cannot believe it. It is a really quiet area. It is only a small village.’
Another woman, who was walking her dog in the field but did not want to be named, said, ‘That area is quite popular.
‘You always see a lot of mess in there. It is also really bad-lit. In the school holidays, there is always kids in there.
‘It is not very nice. We come here every single day. We have no idea what has happened. The area is referred to as Little Switzerland.
