Ryan Gosling’s New Life In Hampstead

Ryan Gosling’s appearance in Hampstead has mothers swooning at the school gates and diners taking double-takes while consuming their food.

Yesterday, the Mail on Sunday revealed the La La Land star, 44, relocated from Trump’s US and purchased a London home with wife Eva Mendes and their daughters Esmerelda, 11, and Amada Lee, nine.

And houses don’t come cheap in the wealthy north London location they now call home, with the average expense of a home in Hampstead coming to £1,533,972, flats going for £996,703, and semi-detached properties fetching £4,224,100 in 2024.

However, the Hollywood hunk isn’t the only A-lister to live in the exclusive London location, joining the likes of Harry Styles, Jude Law, Emma Thompson, and even Ricky Gervais, who resides in a £14.5 million bolthole.

But even though they are accustomed to seeing celebrities, the Bladerunner actor’s attractiveness has been drawing attention from the locals, especially on his most recent visit to a Persian eatery.

Posting to Instagram, Hana Restaurant described it as a ‘true honour’ for both the owner and his son to ‘welcome’ and ‘serve’ the heartthrob and his family.

‘Their warmth, kindness, and appreciation for our Persian cuisine made these evenings unforgettable,’ the restaurant wrote.

‘What made it even more special was how our guests at Hana respected their privacy, allowing the family to relax and enjoy their dining experience in comfort.

‘Moments like these remind us why hospitality is at the heart of everything we do.’

But it isn’t only diners’ heads that have been left in a spin; the hearthrob’s visit to the local school to pick up his children has also left the mothers of Hampstead swooning.

Of his most recent visit, a Hampstead local said: ‘Yes, he’s here and so delightful chatting to everyone at the school gate – such a lovely man.

‘And everyone can’t stop talking about how good looking he is, the mums are practically drooling over him.’

Gosling’s arrival has generated much excitement in the area, with one person revealing on Instagram’s Threads that the actor had held a door open for them: ‘Today’s unexpected adventure, Ryan Gosling holding the door open for me at a cafe in West Hampstead. What a gent!… Quite unexpected, really!’

As of 2024, Gosling boasted a net worth of £55 million, while his movie star wife’s net worth was valued at about £15,000,000.

Former American actress Ms Mendes, 51, met Canadian-born Gosling on the set of the 2012 thriller Place Beyond The Pines, and they were married in 2022. Ms Mendes withdrew from acting around the time her first daughter was born.

Gosling is in London filming the forthcoming Star Wars film, Starfighter, but it is also believed he moved his family from the US to flee the ‘unstable’ political landscape.

Known as the ‘Donald Dash’, other celebs who moved to the UK as President Trump took office include former chat show host Ellen DeGeneres, who lives in the Cotswolds with her wife Portia de Rossi, and Gosling’s Barbie co-star America Ferrera, who has reportedly moved to south-west London.

The megapop sensation Harry Styles, who is thought to possess four houses on the same upscale Hampstead street, is one of his more direct neighbours.

It comes as his neighbours hit out over worries his £30 million Hampstead mega mansion will blot out sunlight to their homes and leave them battling for a ‘right to light’.

The singer, 31, has already begun remodelling his future home in one of London’s most affluent neighbourhoods, a project that won’t be finished until late 2027.

He is creating a stunning pad with four bedrooms, a gym, a movie theatre, an art gallery, and staff quarters by uniting two opulent residences on a private estate north of the city.

Soon afterwards, it was reported he had snapped up another sprawling property in the same area – his fourth house on the same street.

However, some of the pop star’s new well-to-do neighbours worry the former One Direction singer’s expansive city retreat will be ‘overbearing’.

While others have fumed, it is ‘sad living next to a building site all the time’.

One resident told the Telegraph: ‘It’s sad living next to a building site all the time. This road didn’t used to be like this. All the houses are now constantly being bought by millionaires and redone.

‘There’s another house down at the bottom of the road, which I’m sure will be bought up and renovated like the others.

‘There’s also unfortunately less community among the neighbours than there was since people have moved on from the area.’

While they have raised concerns, no new official complaints have been made about the property. The Daily Mail contacted representatives for Harry for comment.

And Styles isn’t the only celeb in Gosling’s neighbourhood, with British funnyman Ricky Gervais calling a £14.5 million Hampstead residence home.

Gervais, worth an estimated £120 million, bought the mansion in March 2024, previously revealing that a significant element behind the move was his desire for a larger garden to build a tennis court.

However, the comic, 63, has confessed the sprawling mansion is unlikely to be his ‘forever home’ as his long-term partner Jane Fallon, 63, raised concerns about the couple living there in their eighties.

‘But I didn’t die, and I wanted a tennis court, so we had to move to a bigger house with a bigger garden just so we could get a tennis court, and I just thought this is amazing, this is perfect. It’s not even finished yet, but I love it.

‘But the other day, Jane went ‘We can’t live here when we’re 80’. So that’s like a ticking clock. She said, ‘There’s all these stairs.’ So I’m going to be moving when I’m 80.’

He added: ‘But I said let’s not move, let’s just move in a load of doctors, nurses and security.

Ricky said, ‘I thought the last house was the one I was going to die in.

‘I could have a team living inside. A driver, someone who I could play table tennis with, so that would be better.

‘Moving at 80 with all this s*** again. I don’t want to think about it. Jane did most of it anyway.’

Gosling and his family resided in Notting Hill when he was filming Project Hail Mary, so this is not his first relocation to London.

They briefly moved back to California before settling in Hampstead, an area that appears they have been eyeing up for some time, after they were reportedly seen house hunting in 2022.

Gosling and Mendes were escaping Trump’s US, yet they came to London – they obviously didn’t think that through properly!

They were clearly not fleeing Trump’s US – it’s not a war zone, well, not yet anyhow. They actually need to look around them; there is disorder, criminality and instability everywhere. Talk about jumping from the frying pan back into the fire!

They think that they’ve escaped something by leaving Trump’s America, but all they did was trade freedom and opportunity for a crumbling, overtaxed mess.

The UK is drowning in regulations, criminality and migrant disorder, and we’re supposed to be the upgrade?

My vision on life is pretty broad, therefore I like to address specific subjects that intrigue me. Therefore I really appreciate the world of politics, though I have no actual views on who I will vote for, that I will not tell you, so please do not ask! I am like an observation station when it comes to writing, and I simply take the news and make it my own. I have no expectations, I simply love to write, and I know this seems really odd, but I don't get paid for it, I really like what I do and since I am never under any pressure, I constantly find that I write much better, rather than being blanketed under masses of paperwork and articles that I am on a deadline to complete. The chances are, that whilst all other journalists are out there, ripping their hair out, attempting to get their articles completed, I'm simply rambling along at my convenience creating my perfect piece. I guess it must look pretty unpleasant to some of you that I work for nothing, perhaps even brutal. Perhaps I have an obvious disregard for authority, I have no idea, but I would sooner be working for myself, than under somebody else, excuse the pun! Small I maybe, but substantial I will become, eventually. My desk is the most chaotic mess, though surprisingly I know where everything is, and I think that I would be quite unsuited for a desk job. My views on matters vary and I am extremely open-minded to the stuff that I write about, but what I write about is the truth and getting it out there, because the people must be acquainted. Though I am quite entertained by what goes on in the world. My spotlight is mostly to do with politics, though I do write other material as well, but it's essentially politics that I am involved in, and I tend to concentrate my attention on that, however, information is essential. If you have information the possibilities are endless because you are only limited by your own imagination...
