If you were given a handful of robust babies, well formed, and you brought them up, and then you took one at random, you could teach him to become any sort of specialist you might decide, say a doctor, lawyer, artist, even beggar man or thief, despite of his aptitudes, inclinations, tendencies, intelligences, callings and the ethnic group of his forebears.

Standard conditioning principles involve ascertaining a new behavior by way of the process of association. In easy terminologies, two stimuli are joined collectively to yield a new learned response in a person or animal. A final criticism of classical conditioning theory is just deterministic. This says that it does not allow for any degree of freewill will in the individual.

Predictive programming is an indirect manner of subconscious conditioning provided by the media to familiarize the people with planned societal changes that are intended to be executed.

If and when these modifications are put through, the populace will by now be familiarized with them and will receive them as a natural progress. Imminent programming consequently may be looked upon as a veiled manner of preemptive mass manipulation or mind control, courtesy of our puppet masters.

In the instance of I, Robot… The motion picture.

In this fairly intriguing futuristic motion picture the functioning system of a robot is based on the familiar three laws of robotics first put forward by Isaac Asimov:

Law I: A robot may not harm a human being or, through inaction, permit a human being to come to harm.

Law II: A robot must obey orders given it to by human beings excluding where such orders would clash with the first law.

Law III: A robot must preserve its own continuation as long as such protection does not clash with the first or second law.

These three laws, to which all robots in the service of humankind are fundamentally reduced to, are thematic in the film.

As the story develops, it becomes visible that a serious obstacle surfaces when unconditional submission of the robots to these laws is called for. The cause of which can be determined from the potentially self-contradictory creation of Law I.

To see how this happens, it helps to decipher Law I as in fact consisting of two opposing sub-laws or clauses:

Through action, a robot may not harm a human being.

Through inaction, a robot may not allow a human being to come to harm.

A plight of frustration or disorder on the part of the robot mounts if it finds itself in a situation that includes two human parties employed in an opposition with one and other.

Say, two groups of people are involved in a dispute using lethal coercion. The coping robot is confronted with a predicament, since it may get into a situation in which it is compelled to take protective action regarding one group while being compelled to attack the other group. Consequently, since it cannot do both at the same time, either taking action or refraining from doing so will debauch Law I.

There have historically been ghosts in the machine. Haphazard fragments of code that group collectively to form unforeseen protocols.

Unanticipated, these free extremists induce proposals of free will, creativity and even the essence of what we might call the soul.

Naturally, not everybody will go along with the plans of the robots, the more resistant people will be sacrificed in the process, eventually leading to a police state situation in which liberties of the one who has escaped have been traded in for so called security.

Seeing as the nature of us humans is probably not going to alter, motion pictures such as this help prepare us for a futurity in which we better have traded in a few of our liberties, a for the sake of shielding us from ourselves, lest we undergo a robot uprising of comparable dimensions as that depicted in this film.

Films such as these consciously or subconsciously prepare us to fear ourselves and our future, should we continue on the road of refined puerility and irresponsibility we find ourselves today.

Consequently, the film seems to refer to a police state which may be an inescapable consequence.

Of course, what the movie does not show is what we all know already in Conspiracy Country and that is that nearly all of the larger scale battles that go on in the world are being organized by clandestine hands which endeavor to capitalize on war for the purpose of augmenting expanded authority and encourage their own merchandise of material wealth.

Conflict seems to be more of a result of psychotic, capital grubbing megalomaniacs rather than the combined childishness of human beings.

Of course, we’re not robots, nor are the government human beings… However, their existence makes us into robots that can fulfill certain positions that are looked upon as dubious for mortal beings. There is no empathy from our impresarios that think that our ability is restricted and limited, nevertheless, all things are extremely hush-hush, plus if we try to say anything at all, then we are silenced.

We are inarticulate, and we’re not given any quantification of esteem, we are not held with regard, on account of, we are not looked upon as that significant to our impresarios. So long as we accomplish our duties, and civic obligations, then totalitarianism works exceedingly well.

We are clearly the cog in the wheel, and as long as that goes round without hiatus, then the establishment is satisfied with the robots that turn it. However, we are just a cog in the machine, and all things we purchase and do, merely satisfies the hunger of huge financial conformity which we’re part of.

If we look at this in this frame of reference, we’re overcome to be consumers who amble about shopping arcades and supermarkets, satisfying the hunger of the machine, that in turn, feeds us. Still when uniqueness is subsumed into a vaster whole, a further pattern and truth surfaces, which sits uneasily with each of us who like to believe they are individuals.

We are predictable, and research of crowd movements tells us that crowds tend to move to the right. Even people who like to believe in themselves as in some way free intellectuals and who live outside the box, are simply a personality type, and the coercions of buying and selling even know which merchandise are best targeted at these individuals.

Our very personal identity appears intimidated by the super population of the world. From town to town we converge with people who yield indisputable traits and at times, we even get together with people that are so similar, that they could almost be the identical person.

Genetically this is not shocking, as the hereditary material has been cast far and wide, and combined recollections and impulses are informing the majority. More importantly in our age of instant communications and mass media, we tend to deliberate the equivalent way and reason the equivalent ideas, depending on what we’ve been exposed to.

You might hear somebody say ‘I am “so” not like someone else’, to which you might answer, ‘Really? ‘ In fact, re-wind a few years, and it might be apparent that it was the TV series Friends that familiarized in all English speaking nations that unique utility of the term “so”, and finishing the narrative with a question mark?

In a few ways, the breakdown of certain world barriers is formulating a uniform culture, where we tend to merely be the same sort of person, whether we believe we are or not. We are what the expression “sheeple” has been invented to characterize. With the appearance of modern technology, whether we’re solitary or part of a crowd, our own identity is subsumed into a larger collective and collective learning, and we operate like a cog in a machine…
