Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now formally closing down their UK based Sussex Royal company in another sign that they’re cutting ties with Britain.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have appointed a voluntary liquidator to wind up the London based charity, which they renamed MWX Trading in August last year.
Documents filed with Companies House show that the couple, who now live in an £11 million mansion in Montecito, California, have requested to wind up MWX.
They have never revealed what MWX stands for, although suggestions include Markle Windsor or Mountbatten Windsor, referring to their son Archie’s name.
On August 5, 2020, the pair officially changed the charity’s title from the Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to the MWX Foundation.
This came after Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, agreed to quit using their Sussex Royal brand after officially stepping down as senior royals on April 1 last year.
The couple established the company MWX Trading Limited in August 2019, naming their new former lawyer Gerrard Tyrrell of Harbottle and Lewis as its secretary.
Last July, Harry and Meghan did a big U-turn inside just nine minutes by removing a formal notice to alter the name of the charitable foundation.
Paperwork for a formal winding-up order declared that the directors, including Harry and Meghan, would be changing it to MWX while it was being dissolved.
A formal document to make the name change official, called a Change of Name Notice, was then filed within hours of the details becoming known, but just nine minutes later at 11.46 am, a notification was sent by Companies House, stating that the same document had been withdrawn.
Documents further revealed that Meghan and five other directors of the foundation had stepped down from their positions, leaving Harry as the sole director.
Discussions with royal aides over Megxit last year concluded with the understanding that the Sussexes would be unable to use the word royal as part of any new branding.
The Sussex Royal Foundation had been launched on July 1, 2019, after Harry and Meghan split from a foundation shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Harry and Meghan married during a glittering ceremony on May 19, 2018, and are expected to mark their third wedding anniversary this year at their US home.
Some 18 months after exchanging their vows they travelled to North America with their son Archie and have never permanently returned to their UK address, and people were rooting for them when they first got married, but now many people believe that they’re nothing more than two self-absorbed victims and that their behaviour is tacky and classless.
And finding freedom appears to have made Harry even more selfish, insecure and alienated, and he’s not a happy man, nor is he more knowledgeable, but at the end of the day, apparently it’s done all in the best possible taste, and it’s about time news outlets quit using their titles when presenting news stories about them.
Harry clearly wants to be seen as one of the boys and not from Royal blood, unless it suits him, of course, or is it ‘just call me Harry, but don’t forget who I am’, and they’ve finally reached cartoon level, and if you build a circus, the clowns will come – they’re all yours America, good luck!
Hopefully, the marriage will last, they do look really happy together, but you never know what goes on behind closed doors, but it will be hysterical if Meghan Markle eventually kicks him to the curb because then he will have to rebuild his British base lock, stock and barrel.
Meghan Markle pretty much has all that she ever wanted, with each passing day, and ultimately, he might just well be surplus to requirements.
