Matt Hancock was booted out of the parliamentary Tory party after sensationally revealing he’s agreed to star in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The former Health Secretary, who quit after breaking his own lockdown rules by having an affair with long-time aide Gina Coladangelo, will become the 12th celebrity heading to the Australian wilderness.

The news started a prompt rebuke from Conservative high command, with Chief Whip Simon Hart confirming he’d had the whip removed, the same fate that befell fellow Tory MP Nadine Dorries when she went on the show in 2012.
Simon Hart said that following a discussion with Matt Hancock, he’d considered the situation and believed that this matter was serious enough to warrant suspension of the whip with direct effect.

Matt Hancock will remain as MP for West Suffolk but act as an independent, and while he’ll be able to keep his party membership, he won’t be able to stand for election as a Conservative hopeful, vote in party contests or stand for committee chair positions.
A political ally said he’d admitted he was unlikely to become a minister again and wanted to connect with younger generations.

The ally said that politicians like Matt Hancock must go to where the people are, particularly those who are politically liberated and that Matt’s of the belief that we must embrace popular culture, and rather than looking down on reality TV, we should see it for what it is, a powerful tool to get their message heard by younger generations.
According to the source, Matt Hancock first downed the chance to appear on I’m A Celeb because of the instability the government was facing at the time. Nevertheless, he now feels the administration is stable and considers his stint on the show as an excellent opportunity to talk about issues he truly cares about.
The ally said that when he was first approached to take part, and while he was flattered and intrinsically interested, it didn’t take him too long to turn the opportunity down because of the instability Government was facing at the time.
They said that Rishi Sunak has made a terrific start and the entirety of the Conservative Party is united behind him. Rishi has a big majority, so he can get his plan through Parliament, and Matt talked to the whips, in the same way any MP would when going on a foreign visit, which happens all the time.
The issue here though is that Matt Hancock has now made the Tories look even more like a circus show, but then I guess we needed a good chuckle, and his constituency party should have got rid of him a long time ago, especially when he broke his own rules, and it’s mind-boggling to the average person why Tory devotees worship this joker and lick his clown shoes, and it’s actually perfectly evident now that the Tories have no intention to help with the cost of living crisis, but they do intend on lining their own pockets.
The reality TV show shouldn’t be called I’m A Celeb, it should be called I’m A Politician who broke God knows how many COVID rules while sermonizing to the public.
Matt Hancock was a joke of a minister, a joke of the government, and the joke of the country, but then I suppose you could say that about the lot of them whilst they’re busy feathering their nests at our expense, and clearly Matt Hancock doesn’t think with his brain, just other regions of his body.
