It Never Occurred To Us That He Would Carry The Coffin Of The Queen

The mother of one of the Queen’s pallbearers said she was beyond proud of her son and had no idea that he would be carrying Her Majesty’s coffin until she saw images of the rehearsal online.

David Sanderson, from Morpeth, Northumberland, was one of the eight soldiers from the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards to be chosen to carry the Queen’s 500lb lead-lined coffin, but David’s commitment to his solemn responsibility was that he didn’t breathe a word to his parents or younger brother.

Instead, they only found out about his involvement when pictures of the funeral rehearsals were published by a newspaper out.

David’s mother Carolyn expressed her pride when she discovered her 19-year-old son had been chosen for such an immense responsibility, and she said that she was beyond proud, that it had been amazing, and that she still can’t believe it happened.

She said that they didn’t actually know anything because it was all private to the army and that they were looking at some pictures of the rehearsal and her husband said that the picture of one of the lads looked like their David.

She said that she looked and said that it was, and it was just wonderful and that she believes that she’s uncovered a new emotion, and seeing him on the television going into Westminster Abbey was just amazing and that all the lads were brilliant, it was perfect.

David attended King Edward VI secondary school in Morpeth before leaving at 16 to enter the Army Foundation College in Harrogate.

By the time he was 17 he was stationed at the regimental headquarters of the Grenadier Guards at Wellington barracks, first joining the second battalion.

He then moved to the first battalion, the Queen’s Division, like his late grandfather John.

His father, Peter, 56, said that the Grenadiers was in his blood, and that was all he ever wanted to do. His grandfather served with the Queen’s Company, joining in 1958, so David was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the regiment.

His father said that he wasn’t actually following in anyone’s footsteps, he’s his own man with his own dreams and he wanted to be part of the history and prestige of the Queen’s Company, and that when he got in, he could never have imagined he’d end up performing that special assignment, but that he has and it’s an accomplishment he can now be proud of for the rest of his life.

The Queen’s coffin is made of English oak and lined with lead, which is a traditional construction which makes it very very heavy.

The Queen’s coffin was moved several times ahead of the date, and using lead to line the coffin stops air and moisture from building up, aiding preservation, and airtight coffins are especially necessary when someone is laid to rest above ground.

It’s believed that the Queen’s coffin was built about 30 years ago alongside the Duke of Edinburgh’s, and it’s understood that the Queen and all members of the Royal Family have coffins made while they’re still alive so that there’s no delay, the coffin is already there.

The concept of the lead lining can be traced back to the Victorian era when it was necessary to protect bodies in an airtight sealed coffin for the benefit of the departed and the public when they’re laid to rest above ground.

Most people are buried underground, but if you have a coffin crypt or a family chamber in a church, then that coffin remains above ground and open to the elements, so a sealed coffin is extremely important.

Nevertheless, it must be said that the soldiers did their duty and they did it so beautifully, and all the pallbearer’s families must have been overflowing with pride. Well done chaps, you did an absolutely fantastic job. They all carried the coffin as a team and they did it amazingly well.

These soldiers were selected for a very specific job and they should all be honoured in an appropriate way to honour this sad but historic time. They were amazing and the pride of Great Britain and it’s a pity some of today’s youths can’t look at these lads and use them as role models, and what a wonderful story to be able to tell your children, and grandchildren.

This lad has a maturity exceeding his years and respected confidentiality and is so different from most social media-obsessed millennials, and these young men should be so very proud of themselves. They did a sterling job at such a young age. You could see on their faces they were proud of themselves, but you could also see their nerves – give them a medal, they deserve it.

The Biden Administration Could Trigger World War Three With Putin Over Ukraine, According To Donald Trump

Former President Trump said he hopes that he’s wrong about the possibility of World War III because the US is being driven by stupid people at a demonstration in Wilmington, NC on Friday.

He said that he was correct about Ukraine. That he was right about what, Taiwan and he’s hoping he’s not right about World War III because he said we have stupid people dealing, as he predicted the US would lose a battle to Russia.

He said that we could end up in World War III and that this would be a war like we’ve never had before, and that it wouldn’t even be close because they’re being run by stupid people.

Donald Trump told the masses that Vladimir Putin mentioned the N-word and that people know what the N-word was, it’s the nuclear word, and he asserted that the Russian invasion never would have transpired under his presidency.

In a rare address to the Russian nation on Wednesday morning, Vladimir Putin insisted he would use all means necessary to defend swathes of territory seized or set to be annexed by Kremlin forces in Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin said during his televised speech that if there was a threat to the territorial integrity of the country, and in protecting the people, they would definitely use all means to them and that he wasn’t bluffing.

Earlier in his address, Donald Trump told the gathering that President Biden’s Justice Department should investigate Letitia James for appalling and malicious abuse of power after the New York attorney general launched a civil lawsuit against him.

At the Save America rally in Wilmington, Donald Trump said that the Biden Justice Department should be investigating Letitia James for her appalling and malicious abuse of power and that they wouldn’t even mention Hunter because that would be rude.

Donald Trump told a rowdy gathering of supporters that thankfully the latest polls reveal that ‘Peekaboo’ James is losing to her Republican opponent this fall.

James is running against Republican Michael Henry for re-election in November, and this week she launched a lawsuit against Donald Trump and his three grown-up children, who she claimed as senior executives at the Trump Organisation overvalued the company’s assets to get favourable loans and undervalued them for tax purposes.

Donald Trump called Letitia ‘Peekaboo’ James a raging maniac and yelled that her only purpose was that they’ve got to get Donald Trump, but he said they know nothing about him.

Donald Trump was once the president of the United States, yet he speaks so lowly of it, but then look what’s transpired since President Joe Biden’s been in power, it’s all gone to hell under the demented one, but then all that Donald Trump does is an insult and undermine America verbally, and it’s shameful what he’s permitted to get away with.

But then, do you really believe that if Donald Trump was still in office things would be any different?

Let’s face it, Vladimir Putin probably expected Donald Trump to win again, or at least he hoped he would because then he could have done what the hell he liked to Ukraine, not that he’s not doing that anyway! And for now, leadership under Donald Trump is over, and he’s not going to be back in the Oval Office anytime soon, although he does have an extremely good following, which appears to grow every day, even though he seems to have totally lost his mind and his mouth has no filter whatsoever, and no decorum. And now he doesn’t even appear to have that charm or humour he had at one time. He’s just a puffy, sweaty, voracious, venomous, enraged orange man. Oh, what a legacy.

It’s A Lovely Name For A Saint, St Elizabeth Of Windsor

Well I never, the Roman Catholic peer Charles Moore has made a proposition, pointing out that the church of England, of which the late Queen was Supreme Governor, could recognise the Queen as a saint, and that she possesses two formal qualifications for sainthood – heroic virtue and two miracles because the world is already full of people who believe that the late Queen healed them of this and that.

Lord Moore has a vested stake in Her Royal Majesty’s elevation to sainthood. He asserts that his cousin’s anxiety was healed by seeing the Queen’s catafalque. However, if she is turned into a saint, then should all her properties be given to the needy and disadvantaged? Or even the church – well, the church definitely not because they are one of the wealthiest organisations in the world.

As for sainthood. Well, this would be rather discourteous, and I’m not even convinced her family would even entertain it, although for her to be called ‘Elizabeth the Great’ would be more fitting to honour her 70-year rule.

This is simply a crazy idea. She was nevertheless a remarkable monarch, but to call her a saint is going a little too far, and I’m certain that there will be some people out there that will be asking what great things did she do?

The late Queen was not a saint, and now we should just let her rest in peace.

This is complete madness because with her boundless riches she could have prevented world hunger and people perishing from starvation and destitution et cetera, so maybe not saint, maybe sinner and it appears that this country has lost its marbles.

I can’t remember her performing any miracles. I can’t recall her being a philanthropist and giving away her wealth to the unfortunate and needy people out there. No saint here. A Queen yes, but saintly, no, and I’m sure that if they do turn her into a saint, there will be numerous people out there that will quit being Catholic.

The only miracle that the Queen had was that she was gifted such a privileged life, but she had a job to do and she did it well, but she also had servants and lots of luxurious things in life that most people never have, and never will.

I guess you could have called Diana a saint because she visited and comforted the dying, the impoverished, sick, disabled people and children in hospital and in poor countries, didn’t see the late Queen doing any of that!

It Is Expected That Patients Will Receive GP Appointments Within Two Weeks, According To The Health Secretary

Therese Coffey has pledged to free up over a million appointments a year by employing more support staff and installing new phones.

Therese Coffey will tell the Commons that patients with the most pressing concerns should also be seen on the same day, as part of a campaign to improve access to doctors’ appointments.

The government won’t put an official target in place and there won’t be recourse for patients if practices don’t adhere to the expectation put on them.

Therese Coffey told the BBC that it wasn’t about being excessively rigid from Whitehall about just how a GP should conduct their practice, but she’s pledged to lift some of the hurdles that exist in GP practices to help meet the timeframe through recruiting additional support staff, including GP assistants and advanced nurse practitioners, to allow GPs to concentrate on seeing patients, asserting the move will free up one million appointments a year.

New cloud-based telephone systems will also be installed to enable people to get through to surgeries more efficiently, something that was suggested by her predecessor. Steve Barclay.

The health secretary will tell MPs that she’s going to put a laser-like emphasis on the needs of patients, making their priorities her priorities and being a champion for them on matters that concern them most.

She said that their Plan for Patients will make it easier to get a general practice appointment and they will work tirelessly to deliver that, alongside supporting their hardworking GP teams.

She said that they know this winter will be difficult and this was just the first phase in their work to support the valued NHS and social care services so people could get the care they require.

Nonetheless, the shadow health secretary, Wes Streeting, told Sky News the solutions being put forward by Therese Coffey were barely sticking plasters, saying that after 12 years of this, it was evident that the longer the conservatives were in power, the longer patients would wait.

And one body which represents health trusts in England and Wales said the measures would not come close to solving wait times and the body representing GPs said it was not a plan.

As part of her plan, Therese Coffey will appeal to the people to take part in a national endeavour to support health and social care, encouraging volunteers who came forward during the COVID pandemic to offer up their services again.

However, it appears that GPs have given up on their patients, while the poor nurses are doing most of the donkey work when patients turn up at A&E because they can’t be seen by their own GP, and even though Therese Coffey is attempting to put the sticking plasters on things, have they even told GPs that they have to get back to work again?

At the moment, even though people don’t realise it, we are in a recession, so where’s all this money supposed to come from? Nothing is free in this world, and taxpayers are paying for it.

The entire system requires an overhaul, starting directly from the top because there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians, and we need to start training our own people and quit depending on other nations to train doctors and nurses. We also need to start charging overseas patients – other nations do it, so why do we find it so hard to ask for payment from others? When you go to a hospital abroad the first thing they ask is, have you got insurance or a credit card, why can’t we do the same?

As MPs, The Middletons And Camilla’s Son Tom Parker Bowles Take Seats In Westminster Abbey Ahead Of Queen’s Funeral, US President Joe Biden And Wife Jill Join Other World Leaders

World leaders including Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron arrived at Westminster Abbey as Britain and the world prepared to say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II at her state funeral today.

The UK’s most important church began filling up from 8 am as the congregation arrived up to three hours early, including Kate Middleton’s parents, as enormous crowds of mourners filled the procession route outside and tens of thousands more went to Windsor, where her Majesty will be buried afterwards.

Michael and Carole Middleton were among hundreds of VIPs who arrived at the UK’s most important church, where Her Majesty married Prince Philip and had her coronation.

Two thousand royals, world leaders and hundreds of members of the public have started filing into the Abbey as billions around the globe will watch Her Majesty’s state funeral.

Most of the VIPs came by coach, meeting at the Royal Hospital Chelsea before being put on a bus into Central London.

Britain’s ministers, past and present, were among the first arrivals including Nadham Zahawi, Ben Wallace and Jacob Rees-Mogg, but US President Joe Biden went to the Abbey in The Beast, his bomb-proof limousine.

Michael and Carole Middleton, the parents of Kate, the Prince of Wales, arrived two hours early for the service, followed by Tom Parker Bowles, the son of Queen Consort, Camilla. They were also on a bus together despite their close ties to the Royal Family, and celebrities at the funeral included TV personality Bear Grylls.

Funeral flowers in the Abbey featured myrtle, which was used in the Queen’s wedding bouquet as is royal tradition. The huge white and green displays of flowers included Asiatic lilies, Gladioli, Alstroemeria, Eustoma and foliage of English oak, weeping birch and the sprigs of myrtle.

Around the coffin will stand the four tall yellow candles which usually rest around the grave of the unknown warrior at the entrance to the historic church, and outside hardy royal fans defied no camping rules, as people of all ages set up tents, deck chairs and even a makeshift minibar to grab premium seats for the spectacle that will see 2 million flood into the capital.

By 8.30 am members of the public were told that the procession route was full and began redirecting people to Hyde Park to watch on the big screens.

As you watch, you will see numerous high and mighty political types inside the Abbey and realise that many are not fit to be in the presence of Her Royal Highness.

The real VIPs are the people that Queen Elizabeth loved – MPs are totally irrelevant, but it is a sad day and a celebration of life for such a gracious Queen. We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through, and our purpose here is to observe, learn, grow, to love and then we return home, so here is hoping that our Queen has a safe journey, and may she Rest In Peace.

The EU Calls For Russia To Be Prosecuted By An International War Crimes Tribunal

The EU presidency has said that an international tribunal for Russian war crimes must be installed after new mass graves were discovered in Ukraine earlier this week.

Jan Lipavsky, foreign minister of the Czech Republic which holds the European Union’s rotating presidency said that in the 21st century, such aggression against the civilian people is incomprehensible and abhorrent, and he said that we must not overlook it, and that they stand for the punishment of all war criminals, and that he calls for the speedy establishment of a special international tribunal that will prosecute the crime of aggression.

The appeal follows the finding of about 450 graves outside the recently liberated municipality of Izyum in Ukraine’s eastern Kharkiv region.

Some of the disinterred bodies displayed signs of torture and authorities have discovered several buildings which seem to have been utilised as torture chambers by Russian soldiers and FSB agents.

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky described the finding of electrical implements for torture, and that more than 10 torture chambers had already been discovered in various municipalities and towns liberated in the Kharkiv province.

He said that’s what the Nazis did, and that’s what the Russians do, and that they would be held accountable in the same way, both on the battlefield and in courtrooms.

It comes as a British Ministry of Defence (MoD) intelligence update claimed that Moscow had stepped up its rocket attacks on civilian infrastructure as its troops withdraw from the Kharkiv region.

Head of Kharkiv regional administration Oleg Synegubov said that 99 per cent of bodies that were exhumed exhibited signs of violent death.

Synegubox told readers on the Telegram messaging app that there were several bodies with their hands bound behind their backs, and that one person was buried with a rope around his neck.

The Ukrainian parliament’s human rights commissioner, Dmytro Lubinets, said there were likely more than 1,000 Ukrainian citizens tortured and killed in the liberated territories of the Kharkiv region, although this number had not been yet confirmed.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the mass graves probably provided more proof that Russia was committing war crimes in Ukraine, while French President Emmanuel Macron described what had transpired in Izyum as atrocities.

The United Nations in Geneva said it hopes to send a team to decide the circumstances of the deaths, much like it did approximately five months ago after the Russian army, driven out of Bucha near the capital Kyiv, left behind hundreds of corpses of civilians.

It seems that we don’t live in a civilised world, it is barbaric, and any country that declares any kind of war on another country is definitely not a civilised country.

We have looted, plundered, destroyed, killed, tortured, mutilated and ruled other countries for years, but now claim that we are civilised, but we are not!

All war crimes should be investigated, but the problem is that most of the world doesn’t actually care, one way or the other, and the bottom line is that this evil person called Vladimir Putin and his wicked soldiers need to be brought to justice before he turns into another Hitler.

However, the unfortunate reality is that we don’t live in a civilised world, we just believe that we do, and our view of a civilised world is a fantasy built on our imagination and ignorance.

The painful truth is that the people that carry out these crimes are depraved and Vladimir Putin is a madman, and you can bet your bottom dollar that this man’s not interested in a peaceful settlement, all he’s interested in is killing innocent people for his own satisfaction.

The Australian Who Claims To Be Charles And Camilla’s Lovechild

A British-born Aussie who believes he’s the lovechild of King Charles III and Queen consort Camilla has said it’s a kick in the face to see William named the Prince of Wales.

Queensland-based engineer Simon Charles Dorante-Day, 56, was adopted at eight months old and claims that his adoptive grandmother told him on her deathbed that he was the secret son of Charles and Camilla.

He has for years spoken of his desire for the royals to submit to a DNA test to confirm his genetic heritage and has even sought senior legal guidance after a letter written to the Queen telling of his predicament was not dignified with a reply.

Mr Dorante-Day told News7 that it was difficult not to take Charles naming William as the Prince of Wales as anything other than a kick in the face.

He said that he didn’t want to feel this way, but that he did, and he believes that the one thing that Charles could do is give him an answer or acknowledge him, and that he gave William a title, and he just wants an answer and a DNA test and that if Charles isn’t his father, then he should prove it.

The Aussie also reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing legal action in an attempt to force the King into a paternity test.

Mr Dorante-Day explained that there’s been a debate in there between a judge and himself and his barrister about the legal standing of Charles and whether the monarch is protected by the law or is above the law.

The answer to that was no, they told him that they didn’t see any reason why he was, and secondly, Camilla and her family were definitely not above the law, so that argument had already been had and settled.

Mr Dorante-Day was born in Portsmouth, UK, on April 5, 1966, and was adopted at eight months old before his family subsequently settled in Australia.

Both of Mr Dorante-Day’s adoptive grandparents had worked for the Queen and Prince Philip in one of their royal households and he claims his adoptive grandmother told him he was the son of Charles and Camilla.

Mr Dorante-Day’s case alleges King Charles and Queen consort Camilla started their intimate relationship in 1965, a year before his birth certificate says he was born, and he claims that Queen consort Camilla was missing from the British social scene and King Charles was sent on a pilgrimage to Australia nine months before he was born.

If this man is proved to be the son of Charles and Camilla, does he actually have a claim to the throne? Children born out of wedlock and adopted children are not eligible to succeed, and the only throne he will sit on is the toilet, but I don’t believe this is the point that he’s making, he just wants to know who he is, and everybody should have that right – he sure does look like them though, and imagine the money he could make from this movie.

However, if this isn’t true his grandmother must have had one wicked sense of humour, but it seems highly improbable that he’s Charles and Camilla’s son because he would have been approximately 17 years old when this man was born, although, of course, there are numerous men that have been parents at 17 years old.

In October 1965 it was suggested that Charles should attend Geelong Grammar School and Timbertop in the foothills of Melbourne, Australia.

Charles was then a shy 17-year-old teenager with no experience of Australia where students learnt to fend for themselves, chop their own wood, cook their own food and live and work in harmony with the natural surroundings.

The Queen wished her son to be treated like any other schoolboy, and that he would remain for one term and decide if he wanted to stay for a second term, but he chose to stay on for six months, so it’s extremely doubtful that this man is the son of Charles and Camilla, and it’s probably correct that his adoptive grandmother played a mean prank on him or she had dementia.

The ‘Elizabeth Line’ Queue For The Queen Is Five Miles Long

Mourners wishing to pay their final respects to the Queen have been warned they could encounter a 14-hour wait, amid claims that people have been fainting in the queue that now runs five miles in length.

Queues to see the late ruler as she lies in state doubled in length yesterday and is now snaking for five miles past Tower Bridge, after falling to two miles on Wednesday night.

Numerous more are expected to join the queue over the weekend, in a sign of the enormous need for people to say their final goodbye to the favoured monarch.

As thousands filed into the Palace of Westminster last night, Shadow Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner was among those paying a final homage to the Queen. She was standing solemnly with her hands clasped as mourners made their way past the catafalque.

It’s estimated the number of people set to make the pilgrimage could hit more than 350,000, with people from all over the globe expected to visit London to pay their respects, but well-wishers are now being warned that they must enter the queue by 12.30 am on Sunday in order to see the coffin, sources have asserted.

The Queen will lay in state until 6.30 am on Monday, the day of the state funeral.

It comes as parliamentary sources revealed they had stopped six well-wishers trying to smuggle their pets into Westminster Hall. The pet owners had evidently attempted to conceal their dogs under their coats as they entered the mourning area, it was claimed. Others have been seen bringing their babies to see the Queen lying in state.

Meanwhile, images show paramedics appearing to treat exhausted well-wishers, some who had queued throughout yesterday, to see the Queen lying in state.

It comes after a soldier guarding the coffin fainted during his stint. One mourner was seen falling as he walked down the stairs of the historic Westminster Hall towards the Queen’s coffin.

Ahead of what’s expected to be a peak point this weekend, more than 1.7 million people have gone online to view the Government’s live queue tracker on YouTube which shows the end of the line as people wait patiently to enter Westminster Hall to see the Queen’s coffin.

Pesach Neussbaum, who flew to the United Kingdom from Montreal, Canada, on Wednesday, described seeing the Queen’s coffin as a very special and memorable experience after queuing for almost six hours.

Personally, I don’t believe it’s a place for infants and it’s extremely unfair to them, and they wouldn’t recall the event anyhow. They wouldn’t know what was going on, and if they started crying then they would disturb the solemn calm in Westminster Hall where others are paying their respects, and I’m sure they would be much more comfortable tucked up at home in bed.

Personally, I would have lit a candle at home, said a prayer and been done with it, instead of queuing for that long because I have better things to do and hauling children and pets along is cruel.

This is more about ‘I was there moment’ than any sentiment people held for the Queen, although some people might just be going for that reason, queuing for hours on end, I’m sure most would have been going to demonstrate their gratitude to a woman who was not destined for the role of Queen but took it on and kept her promise to serve her country and its people until the day she passed away.

It Has Been Approved By The Palace For Prince Harry To Wear His Uniform At Westminster Hall On Saturday

A decision to allow Prince Harry to wear his military uniform during a special vigil in honour of the Queen was last night branded a victory for common sense.

It comes after reports claimed that Princes William and Harry are set to take part in a special vigil in honour of the Queen on Saturday.

The Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex will reportedly join the Queen’s six other grandchildren in a special 15-minute vigil at Westminster Hall.

It’s thought the eight grandchildren will pay respects to the Queen by standing in silence beside Her Majesty’s coffin, in a setting which will mirror the Vigil of the Princes.

The special memorial saw King Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, stand guard at St Gile’s Cathedral in Edinburgh earlier this week.

Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward will replicate the vigil at Westminster Hall Friday night, but it will now reportedly be followed by a separate event by the grandchildren on Saturday.

According to a newspaper out, in a further twist, the Duke of Sussex will be permitted to wear military uniform at the event following a Palace U-turn.

Prince Harry had, up until this point, been prevented from donning military colours, following his decision to step back from frontline royal responsibilities.

However, a row erupted following news Prince Andrew, who’s also been banned from wearing his uniform following sexual assault allegations, claims he denies, will be permitted to wear his military colours at the vigil on Friday.

And sources close to the Sussex’s, talking to friendly reporters, insisted the Palace U-turn didn’t come following pressure from ex-serviceman Prince Harry.

One such journalist, Omid Scobie, the writer of the couple’s biography, claimed the Palace had succumbed to public opinion after thousands had complained about the decision to ban him and not Prince Andrew.

Meanwhile, a royal source revealed to a newspaper outlet that common sense had prevailed.

According to a newspaper outlet, Prince Harry has reportedly been given special dispensation to don military colours on Saturday’s vigil. However, it’s not clear what livery he will wear, given that he no longer holds a position in the military.

The Duke of Sussex has so far been unable to wear the military uniform during any of his public appearances following the Queen’s demise.

Both Harry and Andrew both served and deserve to wear the uniform, otherwise, it would be like saying that they didn’t serve their country at all, and well done to our new King – benevolence is the hallmark of a Great King.

Harry and Andrew deserve to wear the uniform as much as anyone else who’s served in whatever capacity, but why the need to dress up? It’s the kind of thing that children do, and is King Charles III showing great weakness? And if he is let’s hope it’s only for this week.

However, this is the Queen’s funeral, which they appear to have forgotten about, and maybe they should wear suits like everyone else would have done, but instead, they’re all fussing about their titles and ensembles at this time when they should be mourning their poor mother and grandmother, but bless them, they all get to play dress up.

I actually hoped that King Charles III would be a fair and resolute King who would uphold the rules, but it seems he’s already demonstrating that it’s one rule for them and another for everyone else.

A Bank Holiday Will Be Observed For Queen Elizabeth II’s Funeral

It’s been confirmed that the day of the Queen’s funeral will be a Bank Holiday.

The new King Charles III formally endorsed the order at St James’s Palace, London today as he was proclaimed sovereign.

While the Bank Holiday has been approved, it’s still not been established which day the Queen’s funeral will be held on, although it’s expected on the 10th day of mourning, Monday, September 19.

This means that there will now be 10 Bank Holidays in total this year, with an additional one earlier being added because of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Usually, the United Kingdom has eight Bank Holidays a year.

Paying tribute to the Queen at the throne room of St James’s before the assembled Accession Council soon after 10.20 am, the King approved the order.

Lord President of the Council Penny Mordaunt said that drafts of two proclamations, one setting the day of Her late Majesty’s state funeral as a Bank Holiday in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Two, appointing the day of Her late Majesty’s state funeral as a Bank Holiday in Scotland, and of two orders in council, directing the Lord Chancellor to affix the great seal to the proclamations.

King Charles III answered that he approved.

Users on Twitter responded to the news of the Bank Holiday soon after the announcement was made. With one person saying that a Bank Holiday for the State Funeral. What a day that will be – sad indeed, but glorious.

There were, of course, mixed responses with one posting, saying not another Bank Holiday.

The Cabinet Office said that details of the Queen’s funeral and other forthcoming ceremonial and commemorative events would be disclosed in due course.

The department also warned of crowding and delays on some public transport as people strive to pay their respects. They said that they realise that numerous people will journey to Buckingham Palace and other royal residences as a mark of their respect.

They said that they expect large crowds, which could pose risks to public safety, and that those who do travel are requested to observe any instructions given to them by stewards and the police, and that they anticipate substantial crowding and delays on some public transport, and that the public should check ahead and plan accordingly, and that as people would expect, a number of organisations would now be making practical preparations including contingency planning for the State Funeral and related events.

Access to some areas, particularly in Central London will be restricted, with road closures and diversions that will cause delays to vehicles and pedestrians.

But will this really be treated as a proper Bank Holiday comparable to Christmas Day where stores, theme parks et cetera are closed? Perhaps not because life goes on regardless, and perhaps it should be left down to businesses to decide if they remain open or not.

Some people may even use the day to see family et cetera. That doesn’t mean they don’t feel sad that the Queen has passed away, but for many, she was not their family.

Of course, this is history in the making. The first death of a reigning Monarch in 70 years and I’m sure the majority of the British people will be watching with tears in their eyes.

It’s lovely that this is being done, out of a mark of respect for the beloved Queen, but it’s also important to be part of that with our children so they can understand and remember this moment in history, and that their children and their children’s children will no doubt study and remember the Queen in the future.
