A second Government party broke lockdown rules over Christmas last year, it was alleged, with Gavin Williamson accused of hosting a canapes evening while London was in Tier 2 restrictions.
A newspaper outlet reported that Gavin Williamson, then the Education Secretary, threw a bash for up to two dozen people in his department.
It comes as Downing Street continued to sidestep claims their staff Christmas do broke guidelines. Police were investigating that party as footage surfaced of staffers bantering about how they would brand it a business meeting to get around the Tier 3 prohibition on festivities.
A newspaper outlet reported that on December 10 last year, Gavin Williamson’s staff attended a drinks and canapes’ event in the department’s Westminster offices.
Gavin Williamson is said to have given a brief speech at the evening event before ministers mingled and knocked back wine. One source described it as reckless.
The DfE didn’t deny the report by the publication, instead, admitting that it would have been better not to have held it while many parts of the country were forbidden from doing so.
A spokesperson for the department said that on December 10 2020 a group of co-workers were already present at the office, and who had worked together during the pandemic, as they couldn’t work from home, took place in the DfE office building in London at a time when the city was subject to Tier 2 restrictions.
The soirée came a week before Boris John’s alleged party at No 10 that has caused a tremendous emission of anger, but the event would still have been in breach of Tier 2 rules that were in place at the time.
Footage last night emerged of Downing Street aides joking about branding their own Christmas party as a business meeting to conceal the fact it broke COVID law.
A newly surfaced video shows No 10 special advisors taking part in a bogus press conference just days after the alleged December 18 event last year which has raised legal questions and denials of wrongdoing from No 10.
The clip, discovered by ITV news, shows Allegra Stratton, the then Prime Minister’s press secretary, and Ed Oldfield, No 10’s head of digital, rehearsing a question and answer session in the No 9 briefing room.
In it, Ed Oldfield asks questions about a Downing Street Christmas party on Friday night, to which Ms Stratton laughs and answers that she went home.
Now there will be numerous people who won’t take guidance from Government on anything because they’ve lost any respect for them that they once had and the Government have mocked us.
People will quit wearing face masks because if Boris Johnson can’t be bothered to wear his, then why should the general public? He is a clown in a circus and can’t be trusted anymore, and we now need a new Prime Minister.
To be fair, from day one it was pretty clear that Boris Johnson was taking the Jimmy riddle, with his stupid grinning and buffoonery, and anyone that can read body language would have seen this was all tosh.
The Government were good at keeping people away from their families and friends, loved ones, and prevented people from visiting their dying relatives while they made money off COVID contracts and then thought it was a right giggle to party away, laughing at us all, and should we have to put up with all this BS anymore? No, we shouldn’t.
Even the Queen sat alone at her husbands funeral, as many others did during this pandemic, while our politicians and their advisers partied and laughed at us, including the Queen and it’s sickening.
