Army On Standby To Stock Britain’s Shelves

The Army is on standby to cope with Britain’s food deficits created by a shortage of qualified truck drivers which has left numerous supermarket shelves empty in recent weeks.

Some 2,000 HGV drivers from the Royal Logistics Corps and other regiments are reported to be on a five-day notification to help dispense food and other vital stocks, including medication.

The Government is expected to make a formal request for help to the military imminently.

It comes after the Road Haulage Association warned in late July that there was a deficit of 100,000 lorry drivers in the United Kingdom, which has been hindering deliveries of food from warehouses to supermarkets.

Thousands of prospective drivers are waiting for their HGV tests due to a backlog created by lockdown, while several existing ones have left the United Kingdom after Brexit.

The problem has been heightened by COVID, with drivers having to go into self-isolation.

A source told a newspaper outlet that messages were being sent out to all Army personnel with HGV qualifications, and they’re being put on a five-day standby notice for driving jobs at major distribution hubs around the country.

Soldiers will be put up in hotels where required and will be working prolonged hours to help with the crisis.

They will be involved with food delivery as well as the transport of other essential goods and medical supplies.

The military intervention will form part of Operation Rescript, an ongoing operation that was launched to tackle matters relating to the COVID pandemic.

It comes after the Government tentatively extended the maximum number of shift hours for drivers from nine to 10 last month, enabling them to make longer runs, however, it was not enough.

James Bielby, head of the Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD), called for military intervention back in June.

He said that the situation had reached a crisis point and it was likely to get more serious as more hospitality venues opened up and demand increased, and he said that the Government needed to act very swiftly.

He said that they were concerned enough to recommend that the Government considered having Army trucks on standby to ensure there were enough vehicles and drivers to distribute food.

Premier Foods, one of Britain’s largest food companies, made a comparable proposal during a meeting between industry representatives and the Department of Environment Food & Rural Affairs (Defra).

But this country is in chaos, and project fear is now turning into project reality, and this now appears totally predictable and by design, and are our bare shelves in supermarkets because of Brexit, not the pingdemic, which it appears is being used as a cover.

Brexit doesn’t seem to be working out so well, but they’ll blame it on the ping app because of course, lorry drivers congregate so closely together in their trucks!

And although COVID was a worldwide virus, it was a great cover-up for Brexit, which has decimated this country, thanks to Boris Johnson’s ruinous agreement, although I’m not implying that Brexit is to blame entirely, so is COVID.

The Government appear to be hiding the shortcomings of Brexit under the COVID headline, but we can’t just blame COVID and the pingdemic because both are playing their small role in the deficit, but the most significant offender by far is Brexit, and of course, why use lorry drivers when they can get the Army to do it for free.

And it was evident that Brexit would create deficits, and that EU drivers would no longer want to work in the United Kingdom, but was that price worth paying for our freedom?

Boris Has Spent More Than £163,000 On Union Flags

The Government has spent more than £163,000 on Union Flags in two years as part of its drive to promote pride in the national symbol.

That figure, spent in 2020 and 2021, amounts to 85 per cent of flag purchases over the preceding four years.

Data reported by a newspaper outlet noted spending had risen in practically every Whitehall department since Boris Johnson became Prime Minister.

The Department for Digital Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) spent £54,420,89 last year alone as worn-out flags were replaced.

The Ministry of Defence has forked out £118,000 on flag purchases since the start of 2018.

The Cabinet Office has spent more than £3,000 since the start of 2018, with just under £2,000 of that funding the purchase of eight flags in the most recent fiscal year.

The figures, revealed by Freedom of Information Act requests, found the Treasury had spent almost £1,000 on Union Flags since 2018, including three this year for a cost of £607.06.

The Department for Transport has spent £1,100 since 2018, including £700 last year. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government spent £90.05 on the flags this year, with no history of purchases in other recent years.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy spent £392 this year and last, nothing in the years before, while the Department for Work and Pension spent £1,045 in the last three years.

The Department for International Trade spent £653.05 this year and last.

The Department for Education spent £134 in 2019, the Wales Office has spent £824 since 2018. This included £597.50 in 2020-21 and the same amount again on Welsh flags.

Robert Colls, professor of cultural history at De Montfort University, told a newspaper outlet that he thought that what they’re seeing at the moment from the Government is a kind of pushback against devolution and threats to the Union.

In March, the DCMS issued new guidance, calling for the flag to be flown every day above Government buildings.

At the time, Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said the flag was a proud reminder of our history and the ties that bind us, and that people rightly expect it to be flown above UK Government buildings.

Housing, Communities and Local Government Secretary Robert Jenrick at the time wrote to all councils in England in a bid to encourage them to fly the flag on their buildings.

The move also allowed dual flagging, where two flags can be flown on one flagpole.

Exemptions apply when other flags, such as national flags of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, county flags or other flags to mark civic pride, are flown.

It’s odd how there’s always money for meaningless gestures like this, or a quarter of a billion for a vessel for the Royals that they don’t need, but money never goes for things that matter to the preponderance of the country, like proper social care or feeding school children, or providing relief for our ex-soldiers or the homeless.

And of course, we appear to have the money for illegal migrants and putting them into 4-star hotels. If we have the funds for that, then we have the money to pay out for decent social care et cetera, but surely buying a few flags should be at the bottom of the list.

And boats costing hundreds of millions and flags are no good when the government are making you sell your home to pay for your care home later on in life.

We have lost our once magnificent country, and any pride we had is now gone, and it’s shameful the way we’ve become a ruthless, crime-ridden nation, and we’re being treated with disdain and ridicule, and now it appears that it now pays better to be a life long shirker, not a worker.

Britain Spends £500,000 A Year

Britain spent an approximated £500,000 in the past year storing boats used by migrants to cross the Channel.

The government has to keep hold of the small boats for twelve months to allow the owner to claim them, despite no one coming forward to collect one in the past year.

The latest figures come after Home Secretary Priti Patel announced plans to build a £2 million processing facility in Dover, and according to a newspaper outlet, many of the boats are disposed of after twelve months because they’re no longer seaworthy or can’t be used for another purpose.

Border Force can also hold onto the boats for longer if they’re part of an ongoing investigation, such as a possible action against people smugglers.

They’re stored in a large outdoor area in Dover initially before being taken to Queen’s Warehouses storage facilities which house seized or detained materials.

To cut down wastage and put the boats to good use, ministers are expected to push forth with a change to legislation so they can be sold or donated.

Estimates provided suggest the government has spent £500,000 transporting and storing the boats, and as well as strategies to alter legislation for storage of the boats, the Home Office has also been given permission for a new processing facility in Dover, which is expected to be operational by May.

The 24-hour centre, which will be set up in a converted welding site, is expected to cost £2 million and millions more to run.

One source told a newspaper outlet that this was a clear indication that this problem was not over, and that it proved there was no end in sight for the boat crossings.

In a letter to the Home Affairs Select Committee, the Home Secretary said that the Department was determined to deliver a long term, sustainable solution, with a new facility to be ready next May.

Late last month, drone pictures exposed more than 100 small boats piled up in rows in a fenced-off compound in Dover, a testimony of thousands of people’s journeys to the United Kingdom in 2021.

The number of vessels appears to be significantly higher than another set pictured in storage in Dover in 2020.

It comes amid a record-breaking year for migrants crossing to the United Kingdom, despite promises from the Home Office to make the route unviable.

So, let’s get this right. If your vehicle is impounded and you don’t pay, it gets crushed, but if vessels are used for illegal migrant entry, it gets looked after until it’s claimed – we must be the laughing stock of the world.

The amount of wastage the UK spends is insulting, and just when you thought the government had reached the limits of being a global laughing stock, they take stupidity to new lengths.

You truly couldn’t make this stuff up, and the government needs to get a grip or make way for one that can because this entire situation is ridiculous.

Of course, a lot of people believed that Brexit would prevent this sort of thing, but sadly, it will only get worse, and the United Kingdom will be inundated with migrants for a long time to come, and that’s reality folks!

The system is broken. Brexit isn’t going well, and the floodgates have opened since we left the EU, and the government are doing nothing in all of this chaos.

Joe Biden’s Vaccine Strong-Arm

The Biden administration didn’t deny reports that it’s considering withholding federal funds from institutions to boost vaccination rates as the number of coronavirus cases continues to grow throughout the country.

Talking to Fox News, an unnamed White House official said that as they always were, the administration was considering a multitude of diverse measures so that they could continue to boost vaccinations across the country.

The official said in a statement that any reported plans under consideration were in initial discussions and pre-decisional and that there were no immediate policy decisions to preview at the moment.

The comments came only a few hours after the Washington Post reported that the administration was considering the possibility of withholding funds from long term care facilities, cruise ships and universities, hoping to encourage some of the 90 million unvaccinated Americans to get their jab.

One phase of the plan, the Washington Post reported, would entail restricting access to federal funds such as Medicare to those in nursing homes and long term care facilities until their workers got vaccinated.

Sceptics of the plan claim it could trigger a repercussion in heavily Republican areas, where vaccine rates are lowest, and further agitate conservatives who are already upset by the Biden administration’s COVID mandates.

They note that even if Joe Biden did withhold federal funds to force people to get vaccinated, it would still take them five or six weeks to reach immune status, during which time, COVID cases would continue to rise.

Others, however, have been pushing for the White House to take a more vigorous approach to encourage people to get vaccinated.

Ezekiel Emanuel, a bioethicist at the University of Pennsylvania, who organised a joint statement between approximately 60 medical groups urging every health facility to require its employees to get vaccinated, told Washington Post that if you look through history, there are presidents who, even in the absence of legal authority, influence people.

Laurence Gostin, who directs Georgetown University’s O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law, added he thought wisely using the federal spending power was right.

He said the federal government can’t directly mandate a vaccine. It can use its spending power to say to a state, that it can mandate its vaccines, and if they don’t they’ll withhold certain federal dollars.

Laurence Gostin said he informed the White House, but, to use its power judiciously, not by bludgeoning the private sector, but rather by starting with high-risk settings with an absolute ethical obligation and legal responsibility to keep their workers and their clients safe.

In a normal world these people would be arrested, but today the feds are their henchmen, and they’re prepared to see their elderly suffer and die so that they can blackmail people into taking the jab.

Who needs a virus to kill the elderly when you have Joe Biden prepared to kill them by taking away funding as a means of blackmailing people into taking the jab, and if this is done by executive order, up next will be those getting any sort of government assistance such as Aid for Dependent Children (ADC), social security, unemployment, school loans, the list is infinite.

Previously, the democrats cringed at the thought of this kind of blackmail as it strikes into the heart of their voter support, but now with Joe Biden at the wheel, all democrats, if this is done, will see their political goals crash and burn in 2022.

But now, there’s darkness marching across the planet, and it’s full of hatred and death, yet hidden from plain sight.

Iran Is Ten Weeks Away From Gathering Enough Nuclear Material To Build A Bomb

Defence minister Benny Gantz sounded the alarm over Iran’s nuclear stockpile at the UN security council, asking world leaders to take action.

Benny Gantz said that Iran was only about ten weeks away from getting weapons-grade materials needed for a nuclear weapon, and he added that it was now time for actions, words were not enough, and that it was time for strategic, economic and even military deeds.

Benny Gantz’s warning comes four months after Iran said it would start enriching uranium to 60 per cent purity, a key step on the path to 90 per cent enriched uranium that’s needed to make a bomb.

Shortly before Iran started increasing the purity of its uranium stockpile, analysts from the Arms Control Association concluded that its breakout time, the time it would take to produce enough material for one bomb, was twelve months.

Now, Benny Gantz believes the breakout time has been reduced to a little over two months. However, that doesn’t mean that Iran is ten weeks away from acquiring a fully-fledged nuclear bomb.

To build a weapon, Iran would have to encase the weapons-grade material in a nuclear core, mount the core on the top of a missile, and then acquire the technology to launch it, have it land accurately on a target, and discharge it.

While little is known for certain about Iran’s nuclear abilities, the regime isn’t thought to possess much of this technology, and some analysts believe it would take Iran two or three years just to produce a viable warhead, assuming they were able to work on it without outside interference.

David Albright, a former weapons inspector, previously said that Tehran could advance the process much faster, but still believes the regime is about two years away from having a viable nuke. Iran is also not thought to possess intercontinental ballistic missiles of the kind needed to launch a nuclear weapon at the West.

Analysis of its missile stockpile by the International Institute for Strategic Studies published in April estimates the country’s largest missiles have a range of about 1,200 miles.

That would enable the regime to fire a weapon as far as Ukraine, India, or Ethiopia, and would mean that Israel is undoubtedly within range.

Countries are in such turbulence, but what are they doing? Spending unlimited funds on nuclear weapons, and then everyone whines about climate change but spending ridiculous amounts of money on building weapons to destroy it, and if Iran can manage to build a bomb, will their government be fanatical enough to use it?

Or is this just false accusations again because the media and governments seem desperate to convince the world they need to attack Iran, and of course, we’ve heard all this absurdity before with governments telling us that they have weapons of mass destruction so that they can bomb villages of innocent people, and how many innocent children have been killed or maimed by these attacks?

The media have obviously been reading Tony Blair’s playbook, “Oh look, they’ve got weapons of mass destruction – I know, let’s have a war.”

Here we go again – is the threat real, or is it just war-mongering, and who do we really take notice of? And any country that thinks they can use a nuclear bomb against another country, will find out it’s the last thing they will ever do.

Terror On The High Street

A man has had his finger sliced off in a brutal knife crime in broad daylight in Salford.

The violence, which had no apparent trigger, exploded on a street in the Cheetham Hill area of the city.

A grim CCTV video of the attack shows the 30-year-old being set upon just after 7 pm on Monday.

The footage reveals a guy clothed in black, holding the knife attacking another person in a grey tracksuit.

In the video, the victim was seen cowering at the side of the pavement as blows from the blade rained down on him.

An eyewitness said that they saw two guys running to the taxi, then the blade swung and a guy’s finger was cut off.

He added to a newspaper outlet that he was telling them to find his finger, and the witness said they were still in shock.

Two men dressed in black were then seen running to a silver-coloured vehicle before making their getaway.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement that they were called about 7.10 pm, Monday 2 August 2021 to Bury Old Road, Salford to a report of a stabbing.

Emergency services confirmed that a male had been stabbed and that a man in his 30s had been taken to the hospital with serious and potentially life-changing injuries, but that no arrests had been made and that enquiries were ongoing, and that anyone with information should contact the police.

A shop worker, who didn’t want to be identified, said that it’s quite common and there’s been a few. That there had been four since they’d been there, they thought, and that you had to be conscious of who was about, and that they try keeping themselves to themselves, and that when they get something to eat, they come right back.

Sadly, Manchester has become extremely rough in parts, and it now appears to be out of control, and it appears that the police just don’t want to catch some people, perhaps it’s got something to do with all this wokeness – too busy sorting out those unfortunate souls that are offended by something or another.

Clearly, these people need to be identified and that’s down to the public, someone must know them, and these people have probably been arrested numerous times before, but it doesn’t appear that our justice system does what it’s supposed to.

The problem is that the penalties aren’t stringent enough and this Government fails to act. The minimum punishment should be 10 years for even carrying a knife and life for any attempt to use it, otherwise, this will continue.

Of course, we can’t have a policeman on every corner, but the country’s in a right state, and now there are so many reasons to be afraid. Hearing about crimes with knives all over Britain, and the police seem to be unable to get to grips with these offenders.

And even if they did catch these people, the courts would give out short sentences or put them on probation, and of course, we’re now having such a tough time with all the lockdowns and countless people dying from COVID, and now we have violence on the streets and the stupidity of e scooters to deal with, and some city areas are becoming no go areas, not just to the public, but the police as well.

The more important thing is, where are all these people getting these blades from, surely they’re illegal, and how do they just walk down the street in the country, waving them about. Where are the police when this is occurring?

Car Buff Who Turns Old Motors Into Ultra-Fast Clean-Driving Electric Vehicles

A car enthusiast who converts vintage vehicles into high-performance electric cars is now counting celebrity stars amongst his clientele.

Car buff, Richard Morgan, 47, left his job as an engineer four years ago to set up Electric Classic Cars in Powys, Wales.

The father of two takes old vehicles and converts them into clean, turbocharged electric cars with better handling, and packing a punch load more power.

After setting up his workshop, Electric Classic Cars became the first classic car converters to take vintage engines and turn them electric in the whole of the United Kingdom.

But the buzz in Richard Morgan’s workshop has even reached the star-studded celebrity sphere after Slumdog Millionaire actor Dev Patel and singer Ellie Goulding commissioned him to spruce up their rides.

He said that four years ago he was messing around with cars in his garage in his house and now he’s messing around with them in a workshop for Hollywood stars.

He said he looked at a classic VW Beetle and decided he wanted to make it go faster, but it was through his research that he came across electric motors as a way to supercharge cars and that during the process he was putting his project online and people began contacting him to ask if he could change their cars to electric.

He said that since then they’ve done Ellie Goulding’s wedding car and they’re currently working on a vehicle for Dev Patel.

Since setting up his business, Richard has given many old motors a new lease of electric life by substituting the petrol-fuelled engines that rely on a clutch and gearbox to fire the pistons at the desired speed.

But while most fuel cars only have an RPM (Revs Per Minute) ranging between 2000-7000, an electric motor can go between 0-10,000 RPM, allowing the vehicle to hit 0-60mph in less than three seconds when coupled with a robust electric drive system.

Richard said that he’s done loads of car conversions in his life but he wanted to do something that he’d never done before, and he said that he believed that more people were considering a conversion rather than getting a new electric vehicle if they wanted something with character, which was both powerful and effective.

Every vehicle is different and a high voltage conversion with Richard will set you back anywhere between £20,000 and £100,000 depending on your specifications, but the former engineer insists no one should be attempting this at home.

Richard has made a vintage car into something better. However, the conversions are insanely expensive, but the guy is one bright spark, but don’t forget the CO2 produced by the power stations that charge these batteries, and also the heavy toxic metals that the same batteries are made from – hardly eco-friendly if you ask me, but of course, you’re not asking me, so just investigate for yourself.

I guess people will have to consider an electric vehicle when all the petrol stations have closed down, either that or get on your bike. The problem is, at the moment you could do a 350 mile trip in an electric Audi, but you would have to stop twice for a 90-minute recharge, if you were fortunate enough to be the first in the queue, otherwise it could be anything up to a three-hour recharge.

Perhaps electric is the way forward, but if you electrified a V12 Lamborghini, wouldn’t that be like asking a violinist to play a Stradivarius with no strings?

Milkman Is Arrested By Police Who Mistook Him For A Burglar

A milkman was given an early morning wake up call when he was dramatically arrested by police who’d mistaken him for a burglar because he was driving about so early in the day.

The unnamed driver for Aycliffe Dairies, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, had been carrying out his morning rounds at about 5 am Wednesday when he noticed police at the Greenfield Convenience Store.

He initially thought nothing of it but then realised police were following his milk truck.

He quickly rang his boss Russ Gibson to say he believed he was going to be pulled over, and he was, but after brief questioning, he was permitted to continue on his route, only to be arrested while stopping for a drink a mere 15 minutes later, as three police cars swooped in and dragged him out of his vehicle.

Russ Gibson described the entire ordeal as crazy, and he said the driver said the police were following him and then pulled him over.

He explained that he was delivering milk, but the police kept asking what he was doing there that early in the morning and just kept questioning him.

He even opened the back of the doors and showed them the milk but said he was told there had been a break-in at Greenfield shop and that he matched the description.

After a while, the police ended up believing him and he just kept driving.

Russ Gibson said 15 minutes later the driver stopped for a beverage when he was then beset by three police vehicles.

He said he was told police then got out of their vehicle, took him out of the car and arrested him.

Russ Gibson said he showed them his work badge and told them to look at the delivery sheet but was told to stop resisting, it was mad. The next thing, they were taking him to the police station.

Russ Gibson said that they have trackers on the vans so he went to pick it up but there was a cop car guarding it.

The business owner maintains he was told the truck couldn’t be moved as it was evidence but told police he needed to take the milk out of the vehicle to ensure it didn’t go off.

Russ Gibson said after explaining the situation to the police he was able to get the driver released and then able to recover the truck at 7 am.

The police need to improve their recruitment criteria, possibly by including a basic intelligence test.

This was shocking, especially when the driver offered to show his work pass and delivery sheet, but that was seen as resisting arrest – unbelievable!

What they should be doing is a full-frontal lobotomy for all new recruits, just in case, their IQ is over 5. Then they wonder why people can’t stand the police.

And law-abiding citizens pretty soon start to dislike the police if they’re acting in such a blatantly ridiculous way. This driver was obviously a milkman, and it’s pretty well known that they’re up early, and so are expected to be seen out on the roads at the crack of dawn.

He showed the police the contents of his truck, so it was rather apparent that this man was not the perpetrator of a crime, but he matched the description – yes, he was a man with a van, but it was hardly an inconspicuous one. It had huge pictures of cows on it, and I hardly think that the perpetrators of a crime would have used a van with huge cows on it, of course, that would have been udderly ridiculous.

Mum And Her Disabled Son, Three, Face Living In Her Car

The mother of a disabled three-year-old has revealed how they’re facing living in her car after her landlord almost doubled her rent and then began eviction proceedings before the CDC issued a new eviction ban.

A cessation of residential evictions that kept millions of people from being forced out of their homes terminated on Saturday, and the Biden administration struggled to issue a new extension on Tuesday.

Before the extension was brought in, Sheryl Chavez, 39, said she was given 30 days to leave her home of eight years in rural Edenton, North Carolina, after her landlord chose to raise her rent from $450 a month to $825.

Sheryl Chavez, a former Correctional Sergeant for Pasquotank Correctional Institution, said that mass migration to the region from urban COVID 19 hotspots in the last 18 months had driven up rental costs to unaffordable levels.

She shares the home with her friend, Lefein Noel, 29, and son Allister, 3, who was born with severe brain damage to his nervous system.

Sheryl Chavez told a newspaper outlet that she felt hurt and afraid, and that she’d rented her home from this woman for 8 years only for her to slide a letter into her mailbox, and that she doesn’t know where she’s going to go if she has to leave.

She said to be ousted like it wasn’t a huge deal was extremely hurtful, and not just because the rent was owed, but just to cash in on the great housing market, and that because of the housing deficit and the demand for homes, landlords all over the country were evicting their tenants and putting the homes up for sale at far greater than their value.

Without being able to find affordable housing inside the area, Sheryl Chavez said she risks living out of her car with her son who is seriously disabled.

The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday extended the eviction moratorium for 60 days, a move that risks being challenged in court and one that President Joe Biden admits may not be constitutional.

The agency announced that CDC director Rochelle Walensky signed an order that determined the removal of tenants for failure to make rent or housing payments could be harmful to public health control measures to slow the spread of COVID.

The order expands the eviction cessation until October 3 and applies to counties that encounter substantial and high levels of COVID transmission.

Renters always get a bad deal from shameful exploitative landlords in the US, and the CDC doesn’t have the power to issue any bans, but since Biden’s America, laws don’t appear to matter, and it looks like the CDC figures they have the power to do whatever they want.

Evictions are shameful, and nobody should ever be homeless, especially with a disabled child, and the US needs to house their people, especially those that have paid their taxes.

The problem is, this is the USA, apparently where the streets are paved with gold. However, they don’t have a housing system with social housing that their government can help out with. Perhaps that’s why their taxes are much lower than those in other countries, but then maybe that’s why they have so many homeless folk!

But then it’s not the renters home, it’s the landlords home who aren’t able to make their mortgage payments because some tenants can’t afford the rent, but then the renters should have thought of that before taking out a mortgage and renting their home out. They must have realised that things like this can happen when renting out – of course, they shouldn’t have to lose their home because of someone else, but then it’s not fair on the renter or the tenant.

Forgotten Inmates In the Prison That Disgraces America

A broiling Cuban evening, October 2003. Major General Geoffrey Miller, a squat, rebellious artillery officer who is now commandant of the US prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, stands in the shade of a palm tree by his headquarters.

His interrogators, he said arrogantly were developing enormously important intelligence, which had foiled terrorist strikes in both America and Britain, and that he thought of Guantanamo as the interrogation battle lab in the war against terror.

He said that their methods were humane. Occasionally dealing with a hardened prisoner, they might have to become aggressive, but that usually, they got their information by building a rapport and that the inmates gave up their secrets because they’ve come to appreciate the kind, civilised values that Guantanamo represents.

To watchers of the acclaimed film drama The Mauritanian, the real story of former Guantanamo prisoner Mohamedou Ould Slahi, Geoffrey Miller’s assertions may seem difficult to believe.

Captured in his home country on the edge of the Sahara after a bogus tip-off that he was an al Qaeda revolutionary, Mohamedou Ould Slahi was taken to Guantanamo in 2002.

On Geoffrey Miller’s watch, he was reduced to shackling in excruciating stress positions for hours on end and to extremes of heat and cold, sleep deprivation, sexual embarrassment and beatings. He was even made to drink seawater when he said he was thirsty.

The use of these enhanced interrogation methods has long been documented in US government reports, in relation not only to Mohamedou Ould Slahi but to hundreds of others.

Eventually, in 2016, after more than 14 years, Mohamedou Ould Slahi, who was now 50 years old, went home, cleared of all charges, and the years of torture and isolation had been for nothing, and whatever he may have told his interrogators, it couldn’t have stopped any terror strikes because he was never a revolutionary.

As for Geoffrey Miller, by the time he was given a Distinguished Service Medal on retiring in 2006, he’d been publicly accused of overseeing the abuse of detainees not only at Guantanamo but at the prison he ran both before and afterwards, at Abu Ghraib in Iraq.

Efforts were made to prosecute him for war crimes, and he faced interrogation by the US Congress, but he vehemently denied being accountable for cruelty and claimed orders he gave were misinterpreted.

Now, Guantanamo seldom makes the news, particularly in Britain, and the last of its 18 British detainees, Londoner Shaker Aamer, was released in 2015.

Of course, some of those detainees probably were revolutionaries, but then two wrongs don’t make it right, and some of those detainees had nothing to do with what they were being accused of, and these people had no trial to determine whether they were innocent or guilty, and that was just pure evil.

And some of them were there without any evidence or trial, and suspicion is a weak justification for abusing human beings.

The worst thing of all here is that they all deserve a fair trial, but you know what people are like, all they care is that they’re humans, and frightened human beings will say whatever you want so that they don’t get a beating or the threat of being sexually abused.

Human beings are being treated like animals, but animals can only be threatened in the moment so can’t be controlled. So, they are treated like animals, but they’re actually human beings, and whatever these people might have done, or not done, they still have human rights.
