Boris Johnson lands £500k advance for his eagerly-awaited memoir covering his time as Prime Minister

The ex-Tory PM’s latest entry in Parliament’s Register of Members’ Interests says he acquired £510,000 as an advance on an upcoming book.

The autobiography is set to speak of his dramatic spell in No 10, covering the pandemic, the Partygate scandal and the fighting in Ukraine.

Publishers HarperCollins has obtained the rights.

Labour PM Tony Blair reportedly acquired £4.6 million for his book A Journey.

Former David Cameron was said to have earned £1.5 million for his biography, ‘For The Record’, while Gordon Brown is understood to have acquired more than £400,000 for ‘My Life, Our Times’.

Ex-health secretary Matt Hancock publicised his own interpretation of the Government’s handling of the pandemic late last year with his Pandemic Diaries.

Correspondent Boris Johnson has already authored several books, including the international bestseller The Churchill Factor, a bio of the wartime leader, and a comic political book, Seventy-Two Virgins.

Boris Johnson reportedly acquired a £500,000 advance for a biography of the bard, entitled Shakespeare: The Riddle of Genius.

The book was due to be published in 2016 but has yet to hit the shelves.

As a backbencher he’s also significantly topped up his MP earnings by travelling the speaking circuit, declaring more than £1 million in speaking fees since leaving office in September.

Like we need to hear more of his drivel.

I wasn’t a big Boris Johnson fan, but then I’m not a big Conservative fan either, and since Brexit, he seemed to have lost his way. He did absolutely nothing about immigration, and he got trodden all over by SAGE during the pandemic, pushing us into lockdown after lockdown until the Christmas parties exposed all of it as a sham when they suddenly had no fear of COVID despite pushing the fear narrative on to us.

And what about his near-death COVID experience? Was that exaggerated – probably! Was it used to push the lockdowns – probably, and if that isn’t shameful, I don’t know what is, and we should all have an honest conversation with ourselves about how Brexit’s turned out.

Boris Johnson didn’t get Brexit done, he just shovelled it through Parliament and depended on the media to peddle the lie to the ignorant, and what Boris Johnson’s memoir should be called is ‘How I ruined a country’.

And the reason people like Boris Johnson want to be Prime Minister, however dysfunctional and inefficient they are, it’s just a door opener to future obscene wealth, which is disgusting – like most of them quite frankly.

Well, it should be a pretty brief biography, nothing much to write about here – fought for fish, decorated a house, went on holiday, locked down the country, had a few drinks, book finished! And it just goes to show what this Government is all about – they’re all in it for themselves, not the people, and if this book is being written by Boris Johnson then I’ll assume it’ll be in the fantasy section.

I wonder what’s going to be in this book of his. Perhaps it will say that he lied to get into power and carried on once he got in, just like every other Prime Minister. It might even say that he took the country into a recession and gave all of his friends millions while doing it and that he frittered away a majority government but did strengthen the hotel trade and now most of them are perpetually full of boat people.

All that I can say is that when Boris Johnson shuffles off this mortal coil, his epitaph will say ‘Here I lie’.

Parents Arrested After Performing ‘EXORCISM’ On Adopted Four-Year-Old Son Who Died

North Carolina parents have been arrested and charged for allegedly performing an exorcism on their four-year-old son who subsequently died.

Joseph Paul ‘Joe Wilson, 41, and Jodi Ann Wilson, 38, of Surry County, North Carolina were arrested on January 13 after their adoptive son, Skyler, died on January 9.

According to local media, the couple alleged to have reinstated and isolated Skyler and performed an exorcism, in addition to other instances of abuse.

In warrants acquired by WFMY, Jodi was accused of sending a photo to her husband of Skyler encased in a sheet facedown on the floor with duct tape holding the covering to the ground.

Law enforcement officials say Skyler was brought into a local hospital on January 5 and Child Protective Services was contacted on January 6 after sustaining injuries related to the abuse from his parents.

The Wilsons are being held in the Surry County Detention Center without bond.

According to local media, Joseph called 911 on January 5, saying that Skyler was having a seizure.

During the call, a Surry County detective said a female, purportedly Jodi, could be heard in the background saying that it was her fault.

When EMS arrived, Skyler wasn’t breathing.

The boy was taken to the Intensive Care Unit at Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he remained until his death.

A doctor told law enforcement the boy’s brain had sustained injury from a lack of oxygen caused by restriction.

Officials said that hours before Joe contacted 911 on January 5 is when investigators say the photo was sent from Jodi to Joe’s phone.

Along with the image of the boy swathed in a blanket duct taped to the floor, Jodi allegedly wrote that something had happened while swaddling their son.

Swaddling is a soothing technique used to help babies fall asleep. The tools include firmly encasing a covering around a baby’s body so they’re unable to move.

The technique has been linked to increased chances of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and isn’t encouraged for children old enough to roll over.

WFMY spoke with related parties who said that the death came almost one month to the day after a former foster parent filed a report with the Department of Social Services.

The parent told the outlet they were concerned for the child’s wellbeing, as well as the wellbeing of the other children in the home, based on things Jodi had said.

But for the love of God, why? Perhaps because their love of God embraced the belief that the Devil is able to possess children, and clearly, these parents were not sane because sane people know that you can’t get possessed by the devil, but then religion works its magic again to destroy lives.

This was evil and it’s always so sad when one child has to die before the others are saved, and how on earth did these evil people get to adopt a child? Because these weren’t parents, they were monsters.

And it’s awful to think that this child was removed from his biological family for his protection, and then this couple was assessed and approved as safe enough to care for and nurture this little boy, but this is what happens when adoptive parents themselves lack sufficient oxygen to the brain.

Religion itself is inherently evil and it’s a system to control the masses because let’s face it, all people are doing is believing that there are imaginary friends in the sky, but evil walks our world!

Working Parents Who Are Going Through A Divorce May Soon Be Given Time Off

Parents going through a divorce could soon be given time off from work under a new scheme.

Bosses will change HR policies to state that separation is akin to a family death or illness under the Positive Parenting Alliance’s scheme supported by employers including Tesco, Asda and NatWest.

A newspaper outlet reported that the scheme was announced at an event in Parliament yesterday.

It came after a study revealed that 90 per cent of employees polled said their work was badly impacted when they divorced, while 95 per cent said their mental health also suffered.

The newspaper outlet said about three-quarters said they were less efficient at work, while around 40 per cent said that they’d taken time off work as a result of their separation.

Mustafa Faruqi, the head of employee relations at Tesco, said the supermarket industry had a duty to influence the lives of lots of working people in a positive way.

Sir Andrew McFarlane, president of the family division of the High Court, said that employers should be treating separation as an important life event, like bereavement or severe illness.

People separate or get divorced every day of the week, some it affects more than others, but I would imagine that working would be the one stabilising thing that they could do because people have the capability to live through things and come out stronger.

However, coming shortly to a workplace near you will be fully paid sick leave for those that suffer from hypochondria.

However, if someone’s separation has impacted them badly, then they should be given an absence of leave for a brief time and perhaps it should come under sick leave, although to be honest, I’m not sure how people managed in the past.

But hey, what about those people that work, manage their children and have to get care for their children, that’s stressful enough in itself, with some almost having breakdowns because of this, but they don’t get leave to sort their lives out, they just have to crack on with it.

Perhaps the philosophy should be, why bother going to work at all, just insist on getting paid for nothing, and tons of people do – it’s called benefits.

Maybe we should get a day off because one is sad, it’s cloudy and rainy.

However, for those who have never been through a divorce, it can be problematic, painful, especially if there are children involved and sometimes it can get extremely messy, and for those that are going through a truly difficult time, they should be able to take some leave for this.

But it appears that we have created a snowflake generation that will melt at the tiniest thing.

Things go on in our lives that are difficult to get through, but we do, and turning up for work sometimes helps to escape the drama going on at home, and some find that work is what gets them through their divorce because it gave them a reason to get out of bed and into a routine, and it keeps your mind occupied.

However, a decent employer would recognise that a happy workforce is a productive workforce and that a productive workforce is a profitable workforce, and from an HR standpoint, it’s far better for a worker to be at their desk completely focused, and have some personal time out of work, then to be underperforming due to their issues which they’ve not been allowed to resolve.

It shouldn’t matter if your car breaks down, the washing machine floods the kitchen, the kids are unwell, teachers are on strike, the dog or your granny passed away, or you’re going through a divorce, a reasonable employer should support their workers through the various problems and traumas they face in and out of work because, at the end of the day, happy employees make for productive employees.

Sometimes that might mean allowing unexpected time off work although that doesn’t necessarily mean paid time off, making time back or using holidays might be more fitting.

On the flip side, a good employee would do their best to leave their personal baggage at the door when they arrive at work and will work with their employer to try to mitigate the effect any non-work related issues have on their performance.

There’s definitely nothing wrong with having policies that furnish support for people who are facing personal problems, it’s poor policies, implementation or people taking liberties that cause the issues.

What A Stressful Start To The Day!

Hundreds of people have taken to social media to gripe after Microsoft services including Outlook and Teams suffered an outage.

The first issues were reported, with Microsoft saying that at about 9 am they isolated the problem to a networking configuration issue and were attempting to fix it without causing further impact to users.

They subsequently added that they have rolled back a change in their network that they thought was having an effect.

The situation left millions of people working from the office or their homes without access to emails, causing chaos for many, although the problem seemed to have been somewhat fixed before 9 am.

Twitter was loaded with complaints, with one person asking whether Outlook was down for everyone or were they the only one having a stressful start to the day.

Microsoft said on its status page and on Twitter at about 9.30 am that they’d rolled back a network change that they believed was causing the impact, and that they were observing the service as the rollback takes effect.

They said that they’d isolated the issue to a networking configuration problem and that they were investigating the best mitigation strategy to manage it without causing further impact, and that they would deliver more details once they had more information.

It had originally said just after 7.30 am that it was investigating the outage problems.

Microsoft 365 is the firm’s name for its array of programs and services, which also include Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel as well as the communication platform Teams.

Teams are used by almost 300 million people across the world, with numerous businesses and schools depending on them for calls, meetings and general organisation.

The firm said it had received reports that its OneDrive cloud storage facility, SharePoint Online service and Microsoft Graph were also having issues.

Jake Moore, a cyber security specialist, warned that the problem emphasises how businesses should be prepared and have contingency plans when critical programmes suffer outages.

He told a newspaper outlet that these outages were growing in volume due to the mere number of more online users and traffic, and said that many people were quick to suspect a cyberattack but this could often add to the chaos, and that it emphasised the importance of these services and the millions of people they serve.

For some, the worst start to their day was switching on their computer to discover that their email wasn’t working, especially when it’s part of their job, where they might have to coordinate a bunch of flights and logistical arrangements, all heavily reliant on email from people and live systems linked into Microsoft servers and data centres.

Some people couldn’t even pay for their goods by card because Microsoft was down, and we’re veering up to a cashless culture, well, this is a good way to go about it.

Remember when you just got used to Windows 95 and then had to upgrade or it would grind to a halt, and then all familiar buttons were moved all over the place by some techie at Microsoft? It was a bit like letting your ten-year-old rearrange your workshop.

Then came 1,000 patches over 2 years to try and coax it back into life, plus trojans to fight, worms and the dreaded blue screen et cetera. Now there’s no Outlook for an hour and snowflakes treat it like it’s armageddon. I wonder how the world would function now without DOS, Windows and Mac IOS?

In Protest, Locals Hang Posters In Windows And Daub Paint Over A New Street Sign Renaming Black Boy Lane

Angry Londoners have daubed the name of their street sign black after Haringey council renamed Black Boy Lane due to racist connotations.

Posting a photograph of the controversial street sign to Twitter, the leader of Haringey council Peray Ahmet denounced it as mindless vandalism.

She said that she was sad and disappointed to have been sent this and that this followed a fantastic launch where they celebrated the life and legacy of John La Rose, and what could this ever achieve beyond mindless vandalism?

It’s claimed the authority spent a whopping £180,000 altering the name of Tottenham’s Black Boy Lane to La Rose Lane, following anger from Black Lives Matter campaigners, but heritage campaigners and upset residents, some of whom erected their own Black Boy lane signs, were disappointed with the move.

After the new street signs were pitched, pictures appeared on social media displaying multiple homes with the old road sign displayed in their windows.

Art lecturer Rishi Jogoo, 68, lives along the street and was disturbed by the modification, and he joined his neighbours and put up a Black Boy Lane street sign in his window.

He said that there was nothing racist about the name, and he didn’t understand why people were saying that it was and that the council never came to talk to them about it. They didn’t even receive a letter, but when they argued about it they didn’t listen to them.

He said that the issue was that when a street name is changed all your documents like passports have to be altered as well, which was extremely problematic, and he said that the council have said that they would offer everyone £300 because of the change but he didn’t believe that would be enough to sort everything.

He said they will keep their signs up but he wasn’t optimistic that they would listen but that they could always hope.

Mr Jogoo’s neighbour Ian also put up a sign, and he explained that they were hanging the old sign up because they didn’t want it to change and that it was a total waste of time and money.

He said that he would keep his address as it is until there’s an official issue because he wants to use it as long as he can.

Ian said that he worries about how the new name will affect his neighbours.

Well done to these residents because the sad council wokism has gone too far, and we live in dangerous times with all this wokism taking over, and it was a total waste of public money, especially as they listed the previous name underneath the new one, so there was absolutely no point in altering the name as it’s still there for all to see.

It’s truly shameful that the council splurged taxpayers’ money on this frivolous name change to pander to woke ideology, and most people are sick to the back teeth of all this woke stupidity – our country has been deliberately ruined.

What’s even more insulting is the enormous expense of the new sign, bet taxpayers are delighted.

The money could have been better spent pitching a sign explaining the history behind the name of the street.

Rather than being mindless vandalism as it’s being called, it’s more like mindful vandalism, extremely calculated, with an amazing purpose. Councils should recognise that they’re supposed to serve those living in their area, not bully them so that they can impose their own views.

An Unarmed Disabled Man Was Shot By North Carolina Police While Complying With Their Orders

Stunning footage displayed the moment a disabled guy was shot by the North Carolina SWAT team despite following their demands.

Jason Harley Kloepfer, 41, was shot several times by Cherokee County police after officers received a call about gunfire in the area on December 12 at about 11 pm.

Police suspected Jason Kloepfer was the apparent sharpshooter and was holding a hostage.

Jason Kloepfer can be seen in surveillance footage from inside the trailer opening the door with his wife Alison Mahler shortly behind him as both of their hands were raised.

Moments later, officers fired several rounds at Kloepfer as he collapsed to the floor. He was transported to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

Police said Kloepfer had engaged in a verbal argument with police prior to opening the door and demanded he confronted them upon being shot.

Mahler was seen in the video yanking Kloepfer out of the gunfire path as he started to continually scream that he’d been shot.

Mahler yelled at the officers while helping Kloepfer. Screaming that he’d been hit and what the hell did they do to him.

Police continued to shout from beyond the trailer ordering the two to come out.

Mahler obeyed while keeping her hands up as Klopfer dragged himself towards the door, but she slightly hesitated to leave her husband unattended before leaving his side and yelled at the officers while leaving that her husband couldn’t because he’d been hit.

As officers approached the trailer Kloepfer could be heard faintly screaming that he didn’t have a firearm.

Kloepfer was then hauled out by the arm for treatment.

He was charged with Communicating Threats and Resisting, obstructing and delaying.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office wasn’t immediately available for comment.

Last week, Kloepfer shared his healing journey on social media along with footage of the happening.

He seemed to have suffered gunshot injuries to the torso and arm.

Kloepfer wrote that he was physically doing better, but that mentally he and Ali weren’t so good on this one, and that they were out of state for fear for their lives since they got out of the hospital.

The details of the incident and the aftermath remain murky as Kloepfer insisted he couldn’t share details about the shooting, but he insisted he was innocent and called the charges ‘completely wrong’.

People support the police, but if they don’t hold themselves responsible when they make blunders, then ultimately they will lose public support.

Not only should these charges be dropped, but the officers concerned should be held responsible, and an investigation should be met and they should be sacked or imprisoned for assault with a lethal weapon. The law has to apply to everyone, or else it falls apart.

Monetary compensation should go to the sufferers. How much remuneration would have to be left to the courts and their attorneys, but whatever they decide, it will never be enough because this guy will need medical care and that doesn’t come cheap.

The issue is that these police investigated themselves and decided that no offence had been committed – these are the police that opened fire and have been reinstated so that they can do it to somebody else, only next time it might be more catastrophic, and it seems that even when the boys in blue are wrong, they still charge you for something.

This couple got arrested for communicating threats and resisting, obstructing and delaying. What made-up BS charges are these? And it’s fortunate that it was all captured on video footage because this is going to hopefully cost the city big bucks, and thankfully he wasn’t killed!

More Than Two-Thirds Of Hospitals Still Use Outdated COVID Restrictions To Prevent Patients From Seeing Their Family Members

It’s been revealed that hospital patients are being denied cherished visits from their loved ones by NHS institutions using obsolete COVID restrictions.

Data reveals 70 per cent of trusts are still implementing rules dating back to the COVID lockdowns, despite NHS hospitals being told to open up last March.

A newspaper outlet reported that most premises are still limiting visitors to just two at a time, with some reunions trimmed to just one hour.

A recent report by the Care Quality Commission revealed that over half of pregnant women were denied the support of their partner while giving birth last year, despite the end of COVID restrictions.

The restrictions are being implemented across inpatient wards, as well as accident and emergency departments, outpatient clinics and maternity wards.

Health Secretary Steve Barclay has held back on imposing any new guidance on visiting regulations, despite pressure from campaigners to end lockdown-era guidelines. A source close to Steve Barclay claims he wants to allow frontline NHS workers to make their own conclusions on visiting practices in their hospitals.

Labour Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting said it wasn’t good enough for Steve Barclay to stand idly by.

After a resurgence towards the end of last year, COVID is once again on the wane, with the latest figures showing infections down by a third in the week leading to January 20.

During the darkest days of the pandemic, visits from family and friends were forbidden completely to lessen the spread of the virus, leading many people to say their last goodbyes to their loved ones through agonising phone calls.

After it was revealed that more than a quarter of trusts still suspended visits in March last year, the NHS instructed hospitals to open up once again.

Chief nursing officer Ruth May repeated the message a month later, telling trusts no patient should have to attend a hospital appointment unaided, but of the 125 acute hospital trusts examined by a newspaper outlet, 88 still set curbs on visitors.

The most common restriction was limiting visits to one hour, as well as restricting family members who could visit mothers and newborns.

At Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SaSH), maternity wards permit just one visitor at a bedside at any time, meaning families must take turns.

SaSH said it’s updating some of its visitor rules, reverting to pre-pandemic visiting regulations.

It appears that now the NHS isn’t run for the benefit of their patients, and they seem to be loving the control they have over people, and only recently a study was released, noting that of 260 hand sanitiser products, an independent lab discovered unsafe levels of benzene and other chemical substances in 21 hand sanitisers from 15 brands.

Gels, manual pump spray bottles, and other types of products were tested by Valisure after crowdsourcing funds for toxic contamination analysis.

Bottles shaped like Baby Yoda and alongside the brand Star Wars Mandalorian had dangerous levels of the toxin and could be bought on Amazon.

After Valisure’s results were published, the Walt Disney Company announced its own investigation and asked its manufacturer Best Brands to discontinue production until they knew more.

The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), and the World Health Organisation (WHO) have determined that benzene, a chemical typically used by the rubber industry and oil refineries, can cause cancer in humans, usually, blood disorders like Leukemia. Moreover, inhaling high concentrations of benzene can cause side effects in the nervous system (like seizures).

I actually didn’t go along with all the lockdown practices, and I definitely wouldn’t go along with them now. I went about my business as normal while everyone else was panicking. I did test myself from time to time but that was only because I have a friend whose immune suppressed, and didn’t want to pass anything on to her if I was sick, but that was it.

I came down with COVID way before it was even publicised. I came down with a vicious cough in November, which carried on till January and then it went away. I didn’t feel unwell – the cough was a pain in the butt, but apart from that I felt good. No fever, no loss of taste or smell, just a cough which in the end bruised my throat because of all the coughing.

I’d never had anything like this before so went to see my doctor who told me there was an extremely bad virus going about, that was before it was all publicised – so how long had this actually been going on before we were all informed?

I’m not denying that thousands of people got extremely ill and died though!

Most GPs are only doing phone appointments still, and we hardly ever see a patient unless they actually have to, but we must get used to this because the way we used to do things is now in the past and there’s no going back – welcome to the new world!

First Filmed Interview From Prison By Sex Trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell

Disgraced sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell has declared she’s no recollection of Prince Andrew and Virginia Guiffre meeting, and that the notorious image of them together was manufactured.

In an exclusive preview obtained by a newspaper outlet of her first publicised interview since being in jail, Ghislaine Maxwell, 61, has insisted that she’s no memory of the pair spending time together in the United Kingdom or the US.

The scandalous picture of the pair, which was reportedly taken in March 2001 at Ghislaine Maxwell’s apartment, was given by Ms Guiffre to a newspaper outlet in February 2011.

Ms Guiffre, formerly Roberts, claimed she was forced to have sex with the Prince when she was 17, having been trafficked by convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who in 2019 was discovered dead in his jail cell.

In the revelatory interview, which will be aired on Jeremy Kyle’s TalkTV show, Ghislaine Maxwell said that she had no recollection of them meeting and that she didn’t believe the image was genuine.

She said that it was a fake and she didn’t think it was real for a second and that in fact, she was certain of it and that there had never been an original, there was no photograph, and she added that there was no original of the photo, just copies of copies and parts of it, and that according to some professionals, it looked like it had been photoshopped, and that she didn’t recall her being in her home.

Announcing the show, dubbed ‘Ghislaine Behind Bars’, Jeremy Kyle told spectators ‘Maxwell lifts the lid on Epstein, Prince Andrew and even our late Queen. This is Ghislaine Maxwell behind bars and in her own words.’

The interview comes as Prince Andrew is to launch a theatrical bid to overturn the multi-million-pound settlement he struck with M Guiffre in an attempt to get her to recant her sexual assault allegations and perhaps secure an apology.

The Duke of York has taken action after Ms Guiffre dropped her case against Epstein’s ex-lawyer Alan Dershowitz last year, who she also accused of sexual aggression.

She said she may have made a mistake in identifying him.

Ghislaine Maxwell, who’s serving a 20-year punishment for procuring girls for her late lover and sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein, said it was quite possible that Andrew met Virginia as she travelled with Epstein.

However, this woman is a confirmed criminal blameworthy of awful offences, so does her word mean anything? Or perhaps she was the scapegoat and ended up carrying the greatest cost of those crimes. Had Jeffrey Epstein still been alive, perhaps she wouldn’t have received such a lengthy sentence or been pursued in the way that she was?

I don’t suppose we will ever know the truth of what went on, it’s all conjecture, but if Prince Andrew is innocent then I hope he’s able to clear his name, although faecal matter always sticks, and there’s nothing worse than being blamed of something you haven’t done.

Even if he does clear his name that stigma will consistently remain with everyone, but at least he’ll be able to hold his head up high, knowing that he never did anything bad. Unfortunately, his reputation will be ruined permanently.

As for the image, there appears to be no original and no way of verifying whether it was genuine or not.

Unfortunately, pictures and even videos can be digitally altered these days so their value is extremely limited, especially if you don’t have the original so that it can be examined, if not, then there will always be a question mark.

Brits Don’t Get Any Relief From The Cold!

Temperatures will fall to -8C overnight and freezing fog will remain into next week amid a yellow weather alert as regions of the United Kingdom wake to bitter frost.

The Met Office has issued a warning covering most of England as commuters encounter below-freezing temperatures on Monday morning.

The forecaster has said that the freezing fog could become so dense that visibility could fall as low as 50 metres in some regions of England.

The typical overnight temperature for England in January is about 2C, but this will plunge as low as -8C overnight on Sunday and Monday. It in turn means the freezing fog will take longer to clear, with a warning to drivers likely to remain in place.

Conditions in northern England, Scotland and Wales, meanwhile, will stay much milder and could reach highs of up to 11C this week, significantly more elevated than the average of around freezing for January.

A spokesperson for the Met Office told a newspaper outlet that temperatures will get down to below freezing with -8C as a minimum temperature. Moving into Monday morning, the freezing fog will be slow to clear.

The spokesperson said that outside of this fog, there would be sunny skies in the morning but that it would remain cold, and that as the day developed, sunny spells will pick up from the east, turning colder, and that for northern parts and Scotland, there would be rain, particularly on slopes and hilly regions.

The spokesperson said that broadly speaking, Tuesday would remain similar with temperatures again dropping overnight but remaining above typical in northern regions.

Temperatures are generally milder to the south and colder to the north of England and Scotland, but the current weather system is bucking that trend.

This has been attributed to a shift in wind direction in the northwest.

The Met Office’s yellow weather alert for fog warns that freezing fog will lead to challenging driving conditions and could cause travel delays in some places.

It adds that travel times by car and public transportation are likely to be more prolonged, with surfaces likely to be more slippery than expected with a more significant chance of injury.

The shift will see an Arctic blast that swept across the UK over the past five days giving way to warmer air from the Atlantic but will take longer to reach southern regions.

But now we’re confronted with the majority of our society making the choice to ‘Heat or Eat’ and contained in this are people who have retired on fixed incomes together with the frail and elderly, yet our government give away billions of pounds in Foreign Aid when we can’t even protect our own citizens who have to make the decision to ‘Heat or Eat’.

However, is this even true? Well, for some it is but the majority of people still have their heating on and aren’t struggling, and if this were true. How come restaurants and bars are still heaving, particularly with their increasing prices?

And why are flights booked out till summer despite more elevated prices? And why are retail sales not dropping drastically?

People are still spending which is driving up inflation and hopefully keeping us out of a slump. When these things are really bad, all the above drop dramatically causing a mass recession, and if there are people out there freezing at home and can’t afford to switch the heating on, then make sure you set aside 15 minutes on polling day to turn up en masse at the ballot box so that we can hopefully vote out the nasty Conservative party who has crashed the economy whilst siphoning off billions of pounds to taxpayers cash to their cronies in the corporate energy sector, who in turn finance them and reward nasty Conservative MPs with 45K a pop for after dinner speeches.

British Banks Are Disappearing From The High Street

Another 40 bank branches are to be lost from the UK’s high street, as Lloyds and Halifax announce more closures.

Lloyds Banking Group, which owns both high street banks, is to close 18 Halifax sites and 22 Lloyds branches, all but one of which are in England, between April and June this year.

The group said the branches to be closed have seen the number of visits drop by almost 60 per cent on average in the last five years.

The move is yet another hammer blow for Britain’s beleaguered high streets, which have seen thousands of bank closures in recent years, as outlets in other sectors have closed their doors amid the fallout from the energy price crisis, inflation spiral and falling sales.

Banks across the country have scaled back their branch networks as visitor numbers continue to decline.

The number of people using in-person services has been declining for years as more and more people do their banking online.

During the pandemic, this increased, as some of those who’d stuck to bank branches were forced to learn how to bank from home.

But branches are still essential for the vulnerable, elderly and anyone needing face-to-face guidance.

A spokesman said that branches play an essential role in their strategy but they need to have them in the proper places, where they are well used and said they will continue to invest in branches that are being used regularly, alongside their online, mobile app and telephone services.

The bank branches that will close include 18 Halifax sites in Golders Green, North London, Maldon, Essex, and Bletchley, Buckinghamshire, among others.

The 22 Lloyds branches to be lost include those in Dagenham, east London, Ipswich, Suffolk, Twickenham in southwest London and Harrow in northwest London.

The only site not in England is Halifax’s Bangor branch, in Wales.

All the branches are within a third of a mile of at least one free-to-use cashpoint and a Post Office, the group said.

It added that the closures won’t lead to any employment losses.

The latest announcement brings the total number of bank branch closures that have been announced so far this year to 64.

Earlier in the month TSB announced it would be closing nine sites, and Barclays named 15 for closure.

Along with Lloyds, Barclays, NatWest, HSBC and Santander had a combined total of 7,553 branches in 2015, but according to an analysis of figures from consumer rights group Which, the banks have closed or announced plans to close 4,294 of those sites, 57 per cent, over the past eight years.

And it appears that by closing these branches there is simply no regard for the more senior generation.

Some people would say that the older generation should learn how to do their online banking and can’t comprehend that hesitation to use tech, but it’s not always because they have the unwillingness to learn, and I truly hope that people dismissing this as an old people problem never encounter a similar situation.

Banks are an important service because without them you wouldn’t even get a job or own your own home without having a bank account, and people are now made to have a bank account, but if they’re shutting most of them down, then people should now be paid in cash if they’re unwilling to deliver face to face support.
