The Baby’s Mother Has Been Heavily Criticised For Piercing Her Daughter’s Ears At One Day Old In The Hospital

A new mum has come under fire for piercing her newborn daughter’s ears after just one day in the hospital, with many parents saying she should wait until the child is old enough to make the decision for herself.

The mother, who posts under her daughter’s name, Lara, on TikTok, shared an innocent video of her baby girl just hours after her birth compared to her now at three months old.

The adorable infant had a tiny flower earring visible in the footage from her first 24 hours on earth, and it generated a raucous to explode in the comments section.

But others supported the decision saying that it’s common in some cultures to pierce a young girl’s ears early in life.

One woman said that perhaps it was just her, but on the day her children were born, getting their ears pierced was very far down her list of concerns.

Another said that it was another level for them and that they just couldn’t understand. That it hurts the same as when they’re older.

A third added that a child should get the choice if they want their ears pierced or not and that she was going to let her babies decide when they understood those things.

While it’s not known where Lara and her mother live, it’s probably not Australia as she confirmed that it was the neonatologists within the hospital who pierced Lara’s ears.

Many Latina mums pierce their baby’s ears before even leaving the hospital when the baby is just days old. The biggest reason for this is probably just tradition, and all cultures have things that they do just because their parents did the same, and numerous hospitals because it is a tradition to pierce a newborn’s ears offer the service because it’s better to do this in a sterile and professional manner, rather than a kiosk at the mall.

It’s thought that when they are first born that the child doesn’t feel the pain like they would if they were a year or two, and the holes are given by neonatologists, doctors specialising in the care of newborns in the hospital at birth, and apparently babies ear lobes are softer when they’re really young and that in fact, the babies don’t even react.

Whether people approve or disagree, mothers make decisions for their children, but it doesn’t mean that the child is unloved or not cared for.

There are many parents who have their baby’s ears pierced at an extremely young age but it doesn’t mean that they’re not responsible adults, but to some people, they are extremely bad parents, but most of these parents who do have their baby’s ears pierced are extremely loving parents and the least judgemental of all.

It’s a tradition in some cultures and as far as I’m aware there’s never been a lawsuit against it, and instead of people fretting about a baby’s ears being pierced maybe we should worry more about alcoholic parents and impoverished children, which is far more concerning than getting your baby’s ears pierced.

A Touching Moment When Prince Charles Bounces His Cheeky Grandson On His Knee, As Prince Louis, Four, Once Again Steals The Show

After stealing the show on the Royal balcony, Prince Louis showed off his star power again while observing the fourth day of the Platinum Jubilee festivities. However, Kate Middleton and her son Prince Louis have sparked a big debate on social media after the weekend celebrations.

Prince Louise was spotted being extremely cheeky during Sunday’s Jubilee celebrations, even though the four-year-old amused the masses on Thursday as he stood next to his great grandmother The Queen with his hands covering his ears amid the roaring cries of the public.

The four-year-old was also caught on camera covering Kate’s mouth when she tried to silence him, and the youngster also kept making angry faces at her and appeared to be refusing to abide by her commands.

He later moved across to his other relatives and seated himself on his grandfather Prince Charles’ lap, who pointed out the spectacles in the parade, and of course, social media adored it and as publicised on Twitter: ‘Prince Louis being iconic as always.’

However, as a consequence, Kate has encountered criticism from many on social media for her seeming inability to get Louis to behave.

Behind the little prince sat Mike Tindall who at one point, entertained the lad with funny faces to keep him amused.

The ex England rugby player Mike Tindall was sitting in the row behind, who gestured and pointed to his eyes that he was keeping watch over him, as Kate chuckled at their interaction.

But one person said: “Where’s Supernanny? Kate can’t even discipline Louis.” And a second tweeted: “Kate is raising a rude child!! Discipline!!

However, the prince did delight royal fans by stealing the show on the balcony on Thursday after Trooping the Colour as he let out a howl and covered his ears during the flypast, and his ‘Gan Gan’ the Queen sweetly interacted with her great-grandson, bending down to talk to him, pointing out the planes.

I am sure that Kate thought she was doing the best she could in a difficult situation, and that her hands were tied due to being in public and needing to maintain composure.

Others in the royal box included Princess Eugenie, who bounced her baby son August on her lap. The one-year-old was sporting a jumper with a Union flag on the front, but clearly, Prince Louis was the star of this Jubilee after the Queen, and he was just being a typical four year old who just couldn’t sit still and didn’t really understand what it was all about and was being particularly good under the circumstances.

A child of four years old has no concept of appreciating what he/she has. They’re still discovering and finding their way in the world. I would have been more concerned if Louis had sat and not reacted at all, that definitely wouldn’t be normal for a child of his age.

Prince Louis is four years old and he acted remarkably well for his age, although I’m sure he wouldn’t have pushed his luck like that in private, but Kate was extremely patient but firm with him, and seeing Prince Charles with that human touch was fantastic. Those grandchildren have softened them and it was delightful to see.

It was really wonderful seeing them all together as a family on the royal balcony, and it was an iconic image of the Queen with Prince Louis, but I think we all know it’s probably one of the last times we will see this.

A 14-Year-Old Girl Nearly Died On British Airways Flight Due To Severe Nut Allergy

A mother has told of her mid-air terror after her teenage daughter blacked out and suffered an allergic reaction at 30,000 feet on a British Airways flight when a passenger opened a pack of peanuts on board.

Joanna Jones, 39, was flying to London from Antigua when her 14-year-old daughter Poppy needed oxygen and two EpiPen shots during the nightmare eight-hour flight after suffering a severe reaction to the nuts.

As Poppy’s condition deteriorated, a quick-thinking nurse on board dashed to assist, while the captain considered making an emergency landing.

Eventually, the pilot landed the aircraft safely at Gatwick and Poppy was rushed to hospital.

Speaking exclusively to a newspaper outlet, Joanna said it was a nightmare for all of them and that she actually thought that her daughter might die and that it was frightening and it was all down to a passenger who carried on eating nuts despite at least two announcements not to.

She said that when they boarded the crew asked passengers not to eat peanuts as her daughter had an allergy to peanuts, but as they took off she could see a man roughly ten rows in front eating nuts.

She said that she was worried and asked if they could be moved, but there was no availability, but the crew asked him to stop eating the nuts but he ignored the request and carried on.

While over the Atlantic and three hours short of Gatwick, Poppy suddenly went into anaphylaxis but was saved after Joanna gave her two shots from EpiPens she had with her.

The pens contain epinephrine, a life-saving medication administered when someone suffers a severe allergic reaction.

Frantic cabin crew made an appeal for a doctor onboard and a nurse came forward who helped stabilise Poppy with an onboard oxygen mask in an emergency medical kit.

Doctors were also alerted via an emergency call centre in Arizona and who relayed instructions back to the captain and crew.

Joanna, from Tooting, south London, said that it was frightening. The pilot declared a medical emergency and at one point they were considering making an emergency landing but in the end, he chose to carry on to Gatwick.

She said the nurse who was on board and responded to a call helped them and kept an eye on Poppy’s blood pressure with a monitor but even that wasn’t working properly.

She said that when they disembarked an ambulance met them and rushed them straight to the hospital where they spent the rest of the day until Poppy was well enough to be released.

She said it was the most horrible experience and it could have all been avoided if this particular man had listened to the announcements and not eaten nuts.

She said that some people don’t seem to think that it’s not a serious issue but that it is and the airlines should do more, and they should make it illegal for people to eat nuts on board an aircraft if someone is allergic to them.

Of course, nothing will happen to the man aboard the aircraft, but he should have least been arrested and barred from the airline.

Sadly there are no laws against this, although there must be some statute somewhere that might cover it. The airline announced the nut allergy so did their part, but they can’t physically force someone to stop eating nuts unless it becomes a statute.

The thing is, where did he get the pack of nuts from? Where were they given to him by the airline, presumably along with his drink?

If there’s going to be a passenger on the flight that has an allergy, then everyone’s ticket on that flight should say that they mustn’t consume or bring onto the flight that item or object. Of course, people have the right to enjoy their flight as much as the next passenger, but I would have hoped that as human beings that if it’s announced that someone on the aircraft has an allergy, that person would be human enough to comply.

Obviously, it’s not the man’s fault that the girl is allergic to nuts, but then if you were any kind of human being you would realise that you’re being asked not to consume them because it could be harmful to someone else’s health.

Unfortunately, many people don’t appreciate how serious allergies are and they might argue that they have the right to eat nuts, and yes, they do, but surely for the duration of a flight, they could contain themselves and eat something else.

Boris’s Plans To Axe 91,000 Jobs Will Leave The Civil Service Incapable Of Handling The Post-Brexit Workload, Unions Claim

Union leaders have expressed new angst at Boris Johnson’s intent to cut 91,000 civil service jobs as they warned the scheduled cuts would leave Whitehall unable to cope with its post-Brexit workload.

The Prime Minister recently ordered ministers and senior officials to lower the civil service to the size it was in 2016.

In the aftermath of the EU referendum, the number of civil service positions ballooned greatly due to both Brexit and the COVID pandemic.

Boris Johnson last week wrote to all civil servants to apologise for the concern and uncertainty being caused by the suggested job cuts, but he supported his plans to slim down Whitehall over the next three years by insisting there was no longer a requirement for the State to have the same colossal presence in people’s lives.

The Prime Minister is now encountering fresh resistance from union bosses who are warning Boris Johnson’s plans will leave the civil service smaller, close to the size of the UK population, than at any time in recent history.

Figures from the TUC, as noted by a newspaper outlet, demonstrate that for every 10,000 UK citizens, the number of civil servants dropped from 76 in 2010, when the Tories first came to power, to 59 in 2016.

By last year, that had increased to 70 for every 10,000 UK citizens as civil service staff numbers rose due to Brexit and COVID.

The TUC warned that, under the Prime Minister’s plans to slash 91,000 jobs, the number of civil servants would fall to a new low of 56 per 10,000 by 2025.

There are presently 485,000 civil servants in the United Kingdom.

In June 2016, when the EU referendum took place, there were 384,000 civil servants, the smallest number since the Second World War.

Union leaders warned the planned cuts would leave Whitehall unable to deal with its new post-Brexit role in areas such as immigration, trade and farming.

Steven Littlewood, the assistant general secretary FDA union, told the newspaper that given the new responsibilities the government has post- Brexit for areas like borders, customs and agriculture, it’s impossible to see how it can provide the service it currently is with the proposed job losses.

‘The government needs to be honest about what services it would cut if it reduces numbers.’

All you have to do is take a good look around to see what a mess this country is in. Pigs are being slaughtered without going into the food chain, crops rotting, airports are a mess, ports are a mess, and the NHS is a mess. The Government created all of this, and it needs fixing, not made worse.

Everything that Boris Johnson touches crumbles, and it’s time that we had a leader that actually knows about business and community, and the only time that the Tory sycophants aren’t complaining and whining is when they’re delighting in the misery of others, and from Partygate it’s pretty apparent that the only one thing that our government do, and that’s to organise a booze-up, and of course, they need to sack the smaller folk so that the wealthier folk can keep their big salaries plus perks.

Of course, Brexit was supposed to solve most of our problems, but what our Government pledged was mostly lies, and Boris Johnson is an inept clown, who seems to spend most of his time drinking it up and chasing women, perhaps he’s the one that should be sacked.

Trafalgar Square Is The Scene Of A Controlled Explosion By Police

Police carried out a controlled explosion in Trafalgar Square this morning, after evacuating the public in a security scare, hours before thousands were set to gather at Party At The Palace.

Police tape could be seen in video footage shared from the London site, with officers diverting cars and people after receiving a call about a suspect vehicle.

The force finally gave the all-clear and confirmed that the incident wasn’t terrorism-related.

The police carried out a controlled explosion, with people reporting a loud bang after a suspicious vehicle had been discovered.

The road was closed off and pedestrians were told to get out of the area.

The Trafalgar St. James hotel was also evacuated, and the front of the National Gallery, overlooking the square was locked.

Catherine Strina told a newspaper outlet that she’d journeyed to London for the Jubilee concert in the evening.

She said that they were in the Trafalgar Square area and then discovered something was going on, and the police told them all that they couldn’t go any further. They then heard an explosion so just ran and that it was extremely scary.

She said it was very frightening and they all just ran to Charing Cross station and waited outside, and that there was an extremely loud bang.

A journalist at the scene, Jon Hansen, said on Twitter that he was rushed out of The Trafalgar St. James hotel, and he said that vehicle was left out overnight, and he saw all four windows of the car smashed out, and they were told they were waiting for a controlled explosion.

He said that they rushed them down the street and that when they got to the other side of Trafalgar, around the back, they heard a loud explosion.

He said that there was no panic and that the police kept moving people back.

He wrote that the police appeared to have it under control and that the hotel staff had told them they wanted them all out before the police detonated the suspicious vehicle or possibly a package inside of it. Others also reported hearing a deafening bang.

Westminster Police on Twitter said that officers were presently at Trafalgar Square where they’d vacated the scene and asked people not to travel to the area.

After the incident police remained at the scene, and later on the square was reopened.

Of course, safety should be extremely high in matters like this, and it’s the police who are there to keep us safe, and we should praise their commitment and professionalism. The scary thing is that this weekend’s festivities were an ideal opportunity for terrorism – a fact that we all have to face, and it’s great that the police were on top of it before anything bad transpired.

Unfortunately, security is only as good as the eyes and ears on the ground and also the alert entourage in the control rooms monitoring CCTV cameras.

It could have been seen as an overreaction, but what if that vehicle had been packed with explosives? It could have been primed to detonate later that evening when the masses were making their way to the party, and it could have been a bloodbath, and this is why security is so important.

I suspect that whoever’s vehicle it was is going to regret parking it there, and they’re going to get a massive surprise when they go back for their vehicle, but we should all be grateful that there were no fatalities.

Rishi Sunak Backs Drive To Get More People Off Benefits

Chancellor Rishi Sunak is preparing to crack the whip to get more people back to work by allocating them work coach meetings to get them off benefits.

Government data shows in some places one in five people are claiming benefits.

As a result of these figures, Rishi Sunak and Work and Pensions secretary Therese Coffey want to increase the number of unemployed people who see a work coach.

Areas such as Blackpool, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Liverpool and Birmingham have between 20 and 25.5 per cent of the working-age population claiming benefits.

The existing rules allow people to sidestep meeting a work coach if they work for at least nine hours a week.

The Government wants to remove this barrier to get more people back into full-time work.

And according to a newspaper outlet, claimants would meet a work coach every other week in order to be helped find extra hours or maybe a full-time position.

However, there are fears that expanding the role of job coaches would bring extra expenses.

New figures reveal that the UK labour market has shed hundreds of thousands of people since the beginning of the COVID 19 pandemic, with a growing number of more senior workers choosing to give up their careers.

A total of 32.5 million people were at work in the three months to February this year, down from 33.1 million in the same period two years earlier.

The transformation has been driven by an increasing number of people becoming economically dormant, meaning they’re of working age but aren’t now pursuing employment.

This could be because they’ve taken early retirement, are looking after a family or home, or are long term sick.

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the number of economically inactive working-age people in the United Kingdom stood at 8.9 million in the three months to February.

This is up 76,000 on the previous quarter and a leap of almost half a million in the three months to February 2020.

The rate of economic dormancy among more senior workers has climbed to its highest level in six years.

A total of 27.2 per cent of people aged 50 to 64 were classed as economically stagnant in the latest quarter, compared with 25.2 per cent at the beginning of the pandemic.

The last time the rate stood any higher was in the three months to February 2016.

A lot of working people are now hanging onto their benefits by working 16 hours or less, but who can blame them if the Government doesn’t make working worth it, then people won’t want to go to work or will work the 16 hours just so they can afford their prescription drugs and still get housing benefit.

And for all those disabled people that could work if the workplace was suitable for them and they could get to work on the train, buses and tubes, well please Rishi Sunak help all disabled people who can work get jobs and force employers to help those out that can work, and Rishi if you’re not willing to do that, then don’t insist that they can.

Also, stop letting migrants into our country because those that do get in will work for less money and longer hours so that they can send it home to their families, so what chance have the British people got?

Unless the British person doesn’t earn massively good wages, then they get assistance from the Government for low earners and so on. Many claimants are working but their salaries are so low they’re topped up with benefits because if they weren’t then they wouldn’t be able to pay their rent, bills et cetera and would end up on the streets, and we have enough people out on the streets as it is without adding any more to the list.

When Harry And Meghan Arrived At St Paul’s, They Were Booed

The Duchess of Sussex dazzled in a white ensemble as she arrived at St Paul’s Cathedral alongside Prince Harry to attend the service of thanksgiving for the Queen’s reign.

Meghan and Harry smiled widely as they exited their car and wandered up the stairs of the London cathedral. However, they were welcomed with diverse feelings by members of the public lined up outside the grand cathedral, and as reported by Sky News broadcasters, the pair were greeted by a mixture of cheers and boos.

Nonetheless, the couple continued to smile while stepping inside and while being welcomed by clergymen in attendance.

The couple held hands and seemed affectionate and in high spirits while taking their seats, and while the pair were strolling down the centre of the cathedral, Sky News broadcaster Rhiannon Mills briefly addressed the relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the Firm by speaking of a huge coldness, and she invariably said how they love and respect the Queen.

She said the fact it was suggested they didn’t tell the Queen about their plans to step away from royal life was seen as an enormous snub to a woman that many of us hold in such high regard.

Meghan and Harry stressed during their interview with Oprah Winfrey last year they didn’t in any way blindside the Queen with their decision to leave the Royal Family but said he rejected accusations, and that he took the monarch by surprise with the statement released in January 2020 about the Sussexes’ intention to carve out a new role for themselves, and that he’d raised his plans to her in late 2019 and was meant to discuss them in person upon his return to England from Canada in early 2020.

During the service, Meghan and Harry sat near Jack Brooksbank and Princess Eugenie, with whom they share a close friendship.

On the other hand, the Sussexes were metres apart from Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. This was probably due to the royal pecking order.

The Prince of Wales is the highest-ranking member of the Firm that was in attendance. The Queen pulled out of the service after experiencing some discomfort during Trooping the Colour on Thursday.

It appears that most people want to attack Meghan Markle, which is senseless and people should quit doing this, but most people want to make it about her because perhaps they have nothing else better to do with their time, and we should be letting the Sussexes see their family in peace, it’s their business, not ours.

Of course, they did get some cheers from people who were indeed thrilled to see them. Perhaps it should have been better reported how Boris Johnson got booed as well.

Although after all of this, I bet the Sussexes can’t wait to get back to America? At least Harry made it to his mother’s Jubilee.

The problem this has been made into a media circus, but to make it clear Harry didn’t leave his family, he just stepped back from his Royal responsibilities. Numerous people migrate to other places, but they don’t truly leave their families behind, they’ve just moved away. Harry is still part of his family by blood, but he just doesn’t want to live in their pockets 24/7.

However, we don’t all blame our families for unbelievable acts publicly and then rejoin the same family grinning.

NEWS FLASH – JOHNNY DEPP

Johnny Depp has struggled with alcoholism and addiction for much of his life. He even said that he started using drugs by taking his mother’s nerve pills at the age of 11, was smoking at the age of 12 years old and by the age of 14 he’d used every kind of drug that there was.

And in a 1997 interview, Johnny Depp acknowledged past abuse of alcohol during the filming of What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? (1993), and in a 2008 interview, Johnny Depp stated that he’d poisoned himself with alcohol for years, but in 2013, Johnny Depp stated that he’d quit drinking alcohol, adding that he pretty much got everything he could out of it.

Johnny Depp also said that he investigated wine and spirits thoroughly, and they certainly investigated him as well and that they got along with each other beautifully, although maybe a little too well.

But when he split up with longtime partner Vanessa Paradis, Johnny Depp said that he definitely wasn’t going to depend on the drink to relieve things or soften the blow or cushion the problem because that could have been disastrous.

However, according to his ex-wife, Amber Heard, Johnny Depp plunged into the depth of paranoia and violence after binging on drugs and alcohol during their relationship between 2013 and 2016, and in a 2018 Rolling Stone profile of Johnny Depp, reporter Stephen Rodrick wrote that he’d used hashish in his company and described him as alternately hilarious, sly and incoherent.

During his 2020 libel trial, Johnny Depp admitted to having been addicted to Roxicodone and alcohol as well as other substances such as MDMA and cocaine during his relationship with Amber Heard.

A High Court was shown a video of Johnny Depp smashing up a kitchen and tossing a wine bottle in an intoxicated frenzy at Amber Heard, whilst he tells her ‘You wanna see crazy? I’ll give you f—ing crazy’, but he denied ever hitting her.

We all know that alcohol can make us act in a way that we wouldn’t normally, including making us more angry or aggressive, and that alcohol can induce different emotional responses for different people.

Cocaine can also make you agitated, give you paranoia, hallucinations, delusions, and make you volatile. It can also induce suicidal and homicidal thinking, and other narcotics can cause similar effects.

We will never actually know whether Johnny Depp hit Amber Heard, or that his drug and alcohol consumption cause egomaniacal behaviour, but we do know that alcohol and drug use can cause these behaviours.

Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t but clearly, these two should have never been together in the first place. It’s just a case of he did that or she done this, and we will never truly get to the bottom of it, but clearly, the court didn’t believe Amber Heard, but generally, if there has been abuse in the relationship, abusers go onto abuse again.

Johnny Depp was seen in the clip trashing the kitchen, but not touching Amber Heard, but even so, this is not the behaviour of a rational person, something is indeed amiss.

We see all these glamorous couples smiling in magazines and we all feel a tad jealous, but you never know what goes on behind closed doors, and let’s face it, Johnny Depp hasn’t been that glamorous for at least two decades.

But whether he launched a bottle in the kitchen or anywhere else, it’s all destructive behaviour which develops over time, and sometimes what wasn’t acceptable to you a year ago becomes the norm, and of course, he didn’t start out like this, but as all his craziness goes on he will need to feel more and more in control, and once it starts it’s like a drug.

GPs Still Refuse To See Patients Face-To-Face. What Could Possibly Justify This?

Helen Leaford, 62, from Basingstoke was falling over and suffering dizzy spells, but her GP advised her to use ear drops and get used to being off balance, but instead, she borrowed money from friends and went to see a private doctor. The £300 doctor said she needed an urgent MRI scan to diagnose the problem.

Pinned to the door of a GP surgery on a leafy residential road in suburban Sidcup, Kent is a handwritten message, attached to the interior of the window saying, ‘Please don’t punch or kick the door.’ But a statement such as this is indeed shocking, but it speaks volumes about the increasingly fractured relationship between the public and the people working in one of the nation’s most trusted professions, the family doctor.

There has been a litany of problems that people have experienced trying to access their GP during the pandemic, and now it appears, that little has changed.

Practices were forced to swiftly adopt new ways of working after the Government urged them to increase the use of phone and video appointments, a necessary step needed to lessen the spread of infection among patients in waiting rooms and to protect staff during the first wave of COVID.

However, there are now concerns because there have been reports that some practices have all but shut up shop and are not seeing patients at all in person, and in some cases even getting a phone call from your GP is almost impossible and multiple patients are going under the radar and are not being treated correctly, and now trying to get into your surgery to see your GP is almost like trying to break into prison instead of out of one.

The situation still remains so serious that patients are being forced to go to A&E because they can’t get an appointment with their doctors, and some patients haven’t had blood pressure or a diabetes check-up for 18 months, and some patients with blood in their urine, intense ongoing stomach pain, unusual swellings under the skin and significant, unintentional weight loss were all offered telephone appointments only, despite repeated requests to see a doctor.

And many patients have told their stories anonymously, for fear of being blacklisted by practices for making complaints.

Under pandemic guidance, practices were advised to screen patients remotely first, a process known as triage, either in a telephone call with a receptionist or via an online form to determine whether they need a telephone appointment with a GP or could be dealt with by a nurse or pharmacist.

But there’s just no reason for so much of our lives being destroyed, it’s disgraceful.

How on earth can a GP examine someone over the phone, it’s utterly stupid, and some people are now selling off stuff to pay for a private diagnosis.

Boris Johnson should now demand that GPs who refuse to see patients shouldn’t be paid, then I’m quite sure the issue would resolve very quickly because they definitely shouldn’t be handed out bonuses for a job that they’re not doing, but that’s not going to happen because the Government are too weak to challenge anyone, and that’s why we’re in the state that we’re in now, but then the Government want to get rid of the NHS, so they don’t care either.

Our GPs have been missing in action, and some have a locked door policy with some receptionists who have been turning people away, and lots of patients who have had phone appointments have been incorrectly diagnosed, and have then finished up in hospital.

Some surgeries have even turned off their phone system and then if you go down there to see someone, you’re told to go and see a pharmacist. This is a national disgrace that will be remembered for decades.

An 83-Year-Old Man Dies After Becoming Trapped

A coroner has concluded that the death of a retired police officer whose head became trapped between the rails and mattress of his hospital bed was an avoidable accident.

Max Dingle, 83, died 15 minutes after he was discovered trapped in a ward at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on May 3, 2020.

Concluding an inquest into Surrey born Max Dingle’s demise, a senior coroner found resuscitation hadn’t been attempted despite the pensioner electing for life-saving intervention and having a pulse when he was discovered.

Earlier this month, Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, was fined £1,333,334 for failing to supply safe care to Max Dingle and another patient, whose case is not connected and who died in different circumstances.

Senior coroner John Ellery said Max Dingle, of Powys in mid-Wales, was initially admitted to the hospital with shortness of breath on April 27, 2020.

His medical records revealed he suffered from a heart condition, lymphoedema and sleep apnoea.

The coroner said that Max Dingle remained in the hospital until May 3, at 10 am, when he was discovered with his head trapped between the rails and mattress of his hospital bed.

The coroner said that Max Dingle had suffered a cardiac arrest, from which resuscitation wasn’t attempted, and he died at 10.15 am.

Nobody from the Hospital Trust attended the hearing but family members, including Max Dingle’s son Phil, dialled in from Australia.

Mr Ellery said an initial post mortem examination gave the cause of death as heart disease and didn’t consider the entrapment caused or contributed to Mr Dingle’s demise.

However, Mr Dingle’s son didn’t accept those conclusions and instead, commissioned expert consultant forensic pathologist Johan Duflou, from the University of Sydney, to review the findings and post mortem examination.

Professor Duflou gave the cause of death of entrapment with positional asphyxiation.

Mr Ellery said that after comparing and discussing their findings, both pathologists then agreed entrapment did play a considerable part in the cause of death.

An inquest was opened and adjourned while separate criminal proceedings against the NHS trust were carried out by health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The criminal inquiry ended this month after the trust admitted failings in connection with the care of two patients, including Max Dingle.

Concluding the inquest, Mr Ellery said that based on all the evidence, the findings of the inquest were that Max Dingle’s death was an avoidable accident.

I guess the moral of the story is don’t get ill and end up in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, or anywhere else in the United Kingdom, especially if you’re over the age of fifty because the NHS is a disgrace, and then you get the default response from the NHS that ‘lessons have been learned’, unfortunately, they never are. Still clapping for the NHS, are we?

And it’s a sorry state of affairs when you’re safer at home than in the hospital.

Was there no one else on the ward to sound the alarm?

The trouble is that once you get past a certain age, you are deemed expendable to free up a bed. I’m surprised they’re not offering out lethal doses of morphine to speed things up.

The original coroner didn’t think that it played a part, which means that if Mr Dingle’s family didn’t have the funds to seek a private investigation this would have just been swept under the rug and disappeared. It doesn’t give you much faith in our health system, does it?

The poor man must have been in pain and awfully distressed with his head entrapped in the bed rail, yet nobody noticed, or did they just turn a blind eye?
