Shop Staff Fears After Return Of Mask

The new mask mandate for shops and public transport can’t be left to retail to enforce, one of Britain’s top supermarket bosses warned.

From tomorrow, police will be given the power to issue people fines of between £200 and £6,400 if face coverings aren’t used on trains, buses and tubes and in shops, banks and post offices.

However, the new rules, stated by Boris Johnson, don’t apply to indoor entertainment settings, such as pubs, restaurants, theatres and cinemas.

It’s not known what led ministers to take the decision but it’s thought they didn’t want to impact the hospitality trade, which has experienced enormous economic losses during the pandemic, while scientists said masks in pubs would just not be feasible.

Richard Walker, managing director of Iceland, said his workers on the shop floor could not be asked to intervene when they recognise a rule breaker.

He told a newspaper outlet that they completely support the reintroduction of compulsory face masks in stores, however, they won’t be asking their store co-workers to patrol it, and he said that their store teams, alongside all retail workers, have shown valiant efforts in terms of ensuring safety for customers and building back consumer confidence and it’s important that they stay focused on the long term recovery of the high street.

He said that they need to continue to encourage people to shop in stores if they feel comfortable, and he was confident that the latest guidelines wouldn’t deter customers from doing so.

The British Retail Consortium said it’s up to the police to support the measure, adding that customers are asked to respect the rules and be thoughtful to their fellow shoppers and too hard-working shop workers.

The Co-op chain said that throughout the pandemic, they supported their customers wearing a face covering when shopping in their stores, but it wasn’t their job to implement face coverings or to refuse to serve a customer who decides not to wear one.

The Association of Convenience Stores chief executive James Lowman said that they’re helping retailers to prepare for the change in face-covering rules, but they’re very concerned about abuse against their staff from customers who don’t want to wear a face covering, and he said that they urge all customers to be considerate towards shop workers during this time and to remember that they don’t set the policy, they’re just doing their job by communicating it.

Those that work in retail shouldn’t have to challenge anyone who isn’t wearing a mask because it’s certainly not worth them opening up to abuse, there was enough of that last time – retailers are not law enforcement.

This is two years down the line and there’s no change. What will it be? Five years down the line and there still won’t be any change, and is this the way that we have to live our lives now? What a terrible thought, and by complying, you give permission for the state to do it and go further.

The scientists, opinion pollsters and the media won’t stop there, they’ll demand you wear a mask in more and more places until you’re wearing one in your home, and the only thing that the elites were being honest about was when they said that this was the new normal, and don’t worry, there will always be plenty of self-righteous, gobby staff who will only be too pleased to treat their customers like dirt on their shoes.

So much for Boris Johnson’s irreversible roadmap, but then he clearly just says whatever is convenient at any given moment.

Sussexit Replaces Megxit At The BBC

A controversial royal documentary has opted not to use the term ‘Megxit’ airing in tomorrow’s episode after the word was previously criticised by Prince Harry.

The term could have appeared in the second episode of BBC Two’s The Princess and The Press, which is due to air tomorrow.

Instead, the name of the episode has been dubbed ‘Sussexit’, a newspaper outlet reports, and the documentary will examine allegations about behind the scenes palace briefings and an alleged lack of support received by the Duke and Duchess.

Prince Harry said that perhaps people know this or maybe they don’t, but the term Megxit was or is a misogynistic term, and it was created by a troll, increased by royal correspondents and it grew and grew and grew into mainstream media.

The prince added that in putting the focus of their joint departure on his wife, the word Megxit was sexist.

The palace was reported to be annoyed at the first episode of the two-part documentary last Monday and has only been in recent contact with the filmmakers.

It dismissed the allegations as excessive and unfounded and has allegedly complained at not having what it deems a right of reply, with no previews of the episode before it aired.

The Duchess of Sussex’s lawyer Jenny Afia will appear in tomorrow’s second episode which covers events from 2018 to now, including claims made in March that the duchess bullied two personal assistants.

Jenny Afia said that those accounts were incorrect and that this story that no one can work for the Duchess of Sussex, she was too difficult and demanding as a boss and everyone had to leave, it’s just not true.

Besides the alleged turmoil inside the palace, it will also include revelations about Martin Bashir’s interview with Princess Diana in 1997. Mr Bashir admitted this year that he’d faked two invoices to secure the princess’s trust before the interview.

Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and Kensington Palace took the measure of issuing a joint statement to the BBC at the end of the first episode.

They said that a free, responsible and open press is of vital importance to a healthy democracy.

However, too often it’s excessive and unsupported allegations from unnamed sources that are presented as facts and that it’s disappointing when anyone, including the BBC, gives them plausibility.

I wonder why Harry appears to think that Megxit is misogynistic, or is this just another example of his truth as he sees it?

Apparently, Harry didn’t learn that much at school and didn’t understand that ‘Megxit’ is a made-up word and therefore called neologism. It’s not sexist and doesn’t refer to anything of sex, and he’s making a claim that’s not accurate so that he can dictate what’s said about his wife Meghan.

And it doesn’t matter what they say or do or how many lawyers they send in, it’s not going to change what people think of them because the general public has already made their minds up about them. I really like Harry, he’s a hilarious personality and I prefer him out of the Royal Family than in it, as for Meghan I’ve not quite made my mind up yet, I suppose it will depend on how many times she dips her trotters in the royal swamp so that she can try to unearth as much pig swill as she can.

Everyone is saying that Harry and Meghan should have their titles removed, but the Royal Family won’t do that, even though they’ve attacked the Royal Family, but it’s a really good PR stunt.

If the Queen was going to do something, she would have done it by now, which means that she supports what they’re doing – as I said, a very good PR stunt.

A Mutant Strain Of COVID Shows Unusual Symptoms

A South African doctor who first raised the alarm on a new COVID variant Omicron has revealed that patients are presenting with unusual symptoms.

Dr Angelique Coetzee, who runs a private practice in the South African administrative capital of Pretoria, said she first noticed earlier this month that COVID patients were presenting with a multitude of unusual symptoms.

The doctor, who’s practised for over 30 years and chairs the South African Medical Association, said that none of the Omicron patients experienced a loss of taste or smell, typically associated with COVID, but instead presented with unusual markers like extreme weakness and a raised pulse rate.

Dr Coetzee told a newspaper outlet that their symptoms were so different and so mild from those that she’d treated before and that she was compelled to notify South Africa’s vaccine advisory board on November 18 when she treated a family of four, all of whom were suffering from extreme fatigue after testing positive for COVID 19.

First seen in South Africa earlier this month, Omicron has since been discovered in Britain, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Botswana, Israel, Hong Kong and Australia, and Australian health authorities are conducting an investigation into a suspected case.

The discovery of Omicron, dubbed a variant of concern last week by the World Health Organisation (WHO), has sparked concerns around the world that it could resist vaccinations and lengthen the nearly two-year pandemic.

Omicron is potentially more infectious than earlier variants, although authorities don’t yet know if it will cause more or less severe COVID 19 compared to other strains.

Dr Coetzee reassured the media that the new symptoms she’d seen were mild and that all of the patients she was treating had recovered well, and she said that they had one really interesting case, a child, about six years old, with a temperature and an extremely high pulse rate, and she wondered if she should admit her to the hospital, but then when she followed it up two days later, she was so much better, but the doctor also said she was worried the variant could pose a bigger threat to the elderly.

The discovery of the new variant has prompted numerous countries to strengthen COVID restrictions and impose harsh border controls in an attempt to contain the spread.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson yesterday imposed isolation for all UK arrivals pending PCR test results and compulsory masks in shops and on trains and put a multitude of countries on the red list for travel restrictions.

However, there will be many people who will be more interested in putting up their Christmas tree than listening to Boris Johnson.

People may have lost their sense of smell, but clearly, the doctors and scientists have lost their sense of ‘common’, and most people aren’t listening anymore, and they’ve been falsely claiming that people have died from COVID when in fact they haven’t.

Experts in South Africa have said that it seems like this Omicron variant is less dangerous than the delta variant, which was less deadly than the alpha variant. Perhaps we should be celebrating because every time this virus mutates it appears to get less dangerous.

The whole virus thing will ultimately be resolved by natural evolution. It will, of course, keep becoming more transmissible but less dangerous, and eventually, it will spread everywhere in the world, providing antibodies through natural infection, and within 5 years, when the Zambian Zebra variant is hovering around, we will be treating COVID like the flu.

But the plan is pretty clear. Mandatory masks from early December. Vaccine passports mid-December. January lockdown, lifting of restrictions in the spring, lifting in the summer and then repeat again, but is this really how we want to live our lives?

A 24-Year-Old Unemployed Graduate Lands Dream Job In Banking

A jobseeker set up his own pop-up stand on Tuesday morning, got an interview within three hours and had a new job by the end of the week.

Haider Malik, 24, decided to travel to Canary Wharf in east London on the morning of November 2 hoping to get a position in banking and finance.

With a first-class degree in banking and finance from Middlesex University London, Haider Malik had been hunting for a position since the start of the COVID 19 pandemic in 2020, but he said he’d become frustrated with Zoom meetings where he couldn’t properly showcase his personality.

Encouraged by his father Mehmood Malik, 67, a retired cab driver who emigrated from Pakistan as a teen, Mr Malik took a chance and within days he’d secured a job offer, and he said that the first five minutes or 10 minutes he felt nervous because he was standing there empty-handed.

He said that he found it really awkward and he didn’t know what he was doing and that it was very weird.

He said that he had all his CVs in his bag and was standing there empty-handed trying to look at people, and hoping to meet people rather than being proactive and talking to them.

Instead, Mr Malik, of Seven Kings, Ilford changed the plan and started smiling at people, engaging them in conversation and giving out copies of his CV.

Ahead of his trip to Canary Wharf, Mr Malik bought a board from a stationery shop in Romford and attached QR codes to it so people could simply download his CV and view his LinkedIn profile.

He started his morning job seeking at 6.45 am to catch the first passengers disembarking at Canary Wharf station.

Mr Malik said that he held his CV in his hand and that he was just going to say good morning to people, just seeking to engage people in a dialogue, and he said that a number of people gave him their cards and phone numbers and then began speaking to him, and while some people gave messages of support, one person on their way to work offered life-changing help.

Mr Malik said that there was one person called Emmanuel who actually posted a picture of him online and that he actually went up to him, put his hand out and said that he wished him well and that he’d said he wanted to do something similar two years before but didn’t have the guts to do it.

He said that he was glad he’d put himself forward to do it and that he wanted to share a photo of him on LinkedIn.

The graduate had given out all of his CVs within an hour of arriving at the station and by 9.30 am, he got a message inviting him to come to an interview for a position as a treasury analyst at the Canary Wharf Group.

Mr Malik said that he got the text message from the director of the department at around 9.30 am saying: ‘Come in for an interview at 10.30 am’.

He said that he had his car in the car park so he took his board and all of his stuff, it was crazy.

He said that they interviewed him on the 30th floor of the building and he was facing Canary Wharf thinking that he never expected to be interviewed there, let alone maybe about to get a job.

After the interview, Mr Malik went back to his car to go home but soon realised his story had gone viral on social media.

Mr Malik said that same day his life changed because when he got back in the car to go home after his interview, he checked his phone and he’d had about ten missed calls from loads of different numbers.

He said that he didn’t know that the LinkedIn post went viral straight away and his number was on his CV so people were scanning it and calling him.

He said that for the first three days his phone was nonstop ringing, it never quit ringing and LinkedIn was very busy and that it was going mad and he had to have his family help him to respond to DMs and get in touch with people.

Mr Malik attended a second interview on Friday, November 5 at the Canary Wharf Group and that same evening he was offered a job.

This is an amazing and inspirational young man, and more people could learn from him. He’s an ambitious young man and it’s no surprise he’s been snapped up so fast.

It just goes to show how poor these recruiting agencies actually are with their minimum of two years of work experience, but most employers want people like this guy, but all that recruiters put forward are people who tick the boxes when what they should be doing is taking people on merit alone.

Once upon a time, people were taking on through merit alone, on a trial basis to see how they worked under pressure. Some people didn’t have a clue but blagged their way through, showing initiative, but now everything has to be in a small tick box, and this is why so many people are out of work because the government and employers make it so difficult.

Keir Starmer Calls Boris Johnson’s Social Care Reforms A Working Class Dementia Tax

Sir Keir Starmer has labelled Boris Johnson’s social care reforms a working-class dementia tax as the two leaders engaged in fierce clashes at PMQs.

Sir Keir Starmer accused Boris Johnson of breaking a Tory manifesto promise that nobody would have to sell their homes to pay for care.

The Labour leader claimed the Government was picking the pockets of working people to protect the estates of the richest.

He accused Boris Johnson of operating a classic con game with the Prime Minister acting as the frontman, distracting people with wild promises and panto speeches whilst his Chancellor dips his hand in their pocket, but the premier kicked back as he rejected the broken promises claim and insisted the Government was fixing the problems that they believed could never be fixed.

The Government last week published small print relating to its social care reforms which revealed a new £86,000 cap on care costs will be less generous than originally believed, sparking a Tory uprising.

What the change indicates is that means-tested assistance from local authorities for the less well off will no longer count towards the cap.

That means they will have to spend more of their own money on care before they reach the lifetime limit.

Andrew Dilnot, the original social care tsar who made recommendations a decade ago on how to improve the sector, blasted the move and said it means the less well off will not gain any benefit from the cap.

He also pointed out that the elderly in the north of England where house prices are usually lower than the south will be the worst hit.

The House of Commons narrowly backed the move on Monday but 19 Tory MPs revolted against the Government while a further 68 of their co-workers didn’t vote for them, either because they abstained or couldn’t attend.

Boris Johnson told his Cabinet this week that no one would be forced to sell a home they or their spouse was living in as it wouldn’t be counted as an asset.

This was less categorical than his manifesto promise at the time of the 2019 general election when he offered a guarantee that no one needing care would have to sell their home to pay for it.

In fact, the recently worded pledge is comparable to the current system of means-testing where people’s homes are not counted as assets provided they or their partner live in it.

I can see that many people in their 60s will go for equity release while their still young enough to enjoy their wealth. Perhaps have that cruise that they’ve always wanted, or spend their summers at a nice seaside resort. I guess it’s better than spending your last days stuck to a chair in a nursing home.

However, equity release shouldn’t be encouraged because a lot have lost out doing that, and there are some pretty big risks and some right swindlers in the business of equity release, and spending one’s money early on might be a great idea if you knew you would definitely need entry to a care home, but the reality is that 5 per cent of circa 12 million total pensioners are in Care Homes, though that increases to 17 per cent of the 1.6 million over the age of 85, most people demonstrably don’t survive the age of 85.

And it does seem like a great idea in theory because of course, the Government can’t take what you haven’t got.

BBC Has Lost Its Mind!

Mrs Brown’s Boys return to the screen for two more Christmas specials has sparked horror from many BBC watchers.

The divisive sitcom, which has been both loved and maligned since its inception in 2011, and is set to air two more episodes over the festive period, despite being plagued with claims of backstage tension and the departure of two cast members.

Numerous viewers took to social media to share their response to the BBC’s announcement of their Christmas lineup, with the network hopeful it will entice watchers away from streaming services such as Netflix.

Mrs Brown’s Boys is at the helm of BBC’s Christmas lineup, with another pair of specials featuring the Irish mammy’s hijinks, but news of its return has split viewers.

One wrote: ‘FFS @BBC come on – you cannot be serious! You surely aren’t pinning your hopes for Xmas viewing on #mrsbrownsboys. The #bbc has really lost the plot! Pathetic.’

Another wrote: ‘DOOMED. We are all doomed. If the BBC is relying on Mrs Brown’s Boys they are toast.’

A third also penned: ‘Christ no! Two Mrs Browns Boys specials again! Last years script rehashed no doubt. Absolute rubbish.’

One tweeted: ‘@BBCOne must be desperately short of quality programs over the festive period, not one but TWO specials of @MrsBrownsBoys, what sort of fresh hell is this?’

‘By putting Mrs Browns Boys on you’ve already turned away many of the viewers they’re trying to tempt back.’

‘Think I would rather watch this at Christmas than Mrs Browns Boys,’ a fan tweeted while another said: ‘Mrs Browns Boys is one of the unfunniest TV programmes ever made. Absolutely dire nonsense which the BBC seems to think is funny.’

However, some viewers did rush to defend the programme, with one writing that they loved Mrs Brown’s Boys, but hoped these ones were better than the Halloween special.

Another added: ‘Genuinely love Mrs Browns Boys.’

In the past, Mrs Brown’s Boys has been plagued with debate, slammed for its backstage politics as two of its actors reportedly left the show amid a pay gap row.

The actors in question, Damien McKiernan and Gary Hollywood, who play couple Dino and Rory, were said to have discovered they get less money than the rest of the cast, which is mainly made up of the actor Brendan O’Carroll’s family.

And an insider exclusively told a newspaper outlet last year that the way the show is run behind the scenes makes for an unhappy work environment.

Mrs Brown’s Boys is hilariously entertaining, but I think it’s been going for far too long now that it’s not really funny anymore.

It’s definitely a bit past its sell-by date now. It was pretty funny for a short while, but now it’s a little boring.

Long Waits For Routine Treatment In The NHS

It was reported that follow up appointments are to be scrapped and patients moved around the country under extreme strategies to tackle the immense NHS waiting list overload.

The Health Secretary Sajid Javid is understood to have ordered NHS health chiefs to come up with suggestions to alleviate the backlog.

A review will recommend patients who’ve received treatment should have follow-up appointments cut, and alternatively only contact doctors if they encounter problems.

The Government is also said to be considering proposals to speed up non-urgent hospital care through hubs for routine surgery separating it from emergency care.

For those who face long waiting times, the option could also be given to travel further in order to get treated more promptly.

Clearing houses are also being examined for patients who have waited too long for treatment including routine surgery such as knee replacements.

Chris Hopson, the chief executive of NHS Providers, said it was more likely patients would be given appointments in nearby hospitals rather than being told to travel the 230 miles from Durham to Dunstable.

He added many currently come in for checkups every three months for up to a year after surgery, but that in most instances this wasn’t needed.

Chris Hopson said hospital chiefs had a moral responsibility to clear the backlog to ensure patients got the proper care and didn’t spend months on waiting lists.

Waiting lists for routine NHS care in England has snowballed since the start of the pandemic to 5.8 million.

Some 300,000 patients have had to wait more than a year for care, up from just 1,305 before the pandemic started, and 10,000 have waited two years.

Ambulance waiting times are also spiralling as Accident and Emergency beds are filled, leaving many waiting hours to offload severely sick patients.

Health chiefs have branded the ever-growing list unsustainable, while Labour has slammed the dangerously long waiting times for care.

Mr Hopson, who heads up a union representing hospital trusts, said NHS staff understand that the waiting list was not an adequate situation, and he told Times Radio that what they were working on was a really comprehensive strategy to get through those backlogs as quick as possible.

And he said that some of it will be all the traditional things that they do, which was to increase temporary capacity, to ensure that they use overtime as much as possible and to ensure that they use the capacity that sits in the independent sector.

The Government built the Nightingale Hospitals for COVID patients and if they’d used them like they were supposed to, then there wouldn’t have been this kind of overload, and then they decided to dismantle them discreetly.

Come to mention it, I’ve not seen the words ‘Nightingale Hospitals’ for a very long time, but then they probably built them, then realised that they didn’t have enough personnel, so not actually that well thought out, but that’s the Government all over.

But then we have boat people arriving on our shores, accessing our NHS, but if the Government withdrew their access the NHS would be a super service overnight.

And of course, it’s no problem for our Government, they can get a doctors appointment or bed in a private hospital with the click of a finger, but they’re just telling us now that they’re going to cancel appointments out and that everything is hunky-dory, and for those that paid into the tax system out of their hard-earned wages, well if they’re not going to get the service they paid for, then all that money needs refunding.

Circuit Breakers Are Imposed By Schools Themselves

Schools in England are beginning to close again as headteachers impose their own circuit breakers and are sending children home to study remotely in an attempt to tackle COVID before Christmas.

Campaigners have warned that more schools could follow suit this winter and shut down after St Mary’s Church of England Primary in Hereford and Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio in Lancashire declared they were closing for at least a week amid a surge in COVID cases.

Arabella Skinner of parent group UsForThem, which struggled to get children back into the classrooms after they were first ordered to close in March last year, told a newspaper outlet that as was the experience of last year proved, these isolated instances of school closures don’t stay isolated for long.

She said that the concern was that in the run-up to Christmas they will see more instances of this, but for how much longer are we going to ask our children to stay second class citizens?

St Mary’s Church of England Primary in Credenhill closed for a week yesterday, despite implementing a deep cleaning regime, increased handwashing and sanitising, compulsory PPE, separated year groups and staggered playtimes and lunches.

Headteacher Bernadette Davies wrote to parents to explain that the purpose of this break was to serve as a circuit breaker and stop the transmission of COVID 19 throughout the school.

Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio, a secondary school that teaches pupils aged 13 to 19, has also told parents that their children will be studying remotely until at least next Thursday in light of the number of cases and the information given.

Current guidance from the Department for Education states that schools may impose short term attendance restrictions in severe cases, and as a last option where all other risk mitigations have not broken chains of in school transmission.

However, the return to remote learning will mean that parents who can no longer WFH will either have to take time off, whether annual leave or unpaid or find friends, family or other childcare. The proposals have also sparked concerns that online education in the run-up to Christmas could be a precursor to tighter constraints at schools this winter, and even indefinite closures if there’s a return to national curbs including WFH, facemasks, or lockdown.

Christopher McGovern of the Campaign for Real Education told a newspaper outlet that the interests of children and parents were best served by keeping schools open, but sadly, some headteachers and union bosses were trying to put pressure on the government by closing schools, and that the children of the poor would suffer most of all.

Perhaps the headline should have read ‘Teachers find a way to get more time off’.

However, we have to bear in mind that there’s been a consistent criticism of teachers and also NHS frontline workers, which is having an impact and they appear to be leaving at a rate like never before.

But this pandemic has been going on for so long now that teachers, doctors and office workers have got used to this cushy way of working, mind you, our education system has become rotten, and now children aren’t learning that much.

It boils down to this, this has to end because schools shouldn’t be permitted to just close without permission from the Education Ministry. Otherwise, it will just be abused with schools closing a week early for Christmas and starting late in the New Year, and this relentless push to keep children out of education is screwing up their education and futures.

Before Christmas Shopping, Take The COVID Test

The Government has announced new guidance to take a lateral flow test before travelling to congested areas to avert a fourth wave this winter.

It’s the first time Britons have been asked to take a test before going to high-risk settings, which could include busy stores and town centres.

Before people in England were asked to take two tests a week or before meeting vulnerable people or after visiting a high-risk area, but not before.

According to a newspaper outlet, the new guidance also includes indoor settings such as sporting events and music performances.

The Cabinet Office guidance also warned being in busy indoor places carries a higher risk of catching or passing on COVID 19.

It states that you may want to take a rapid lateral flow test if it’s expected that there will be a period of high risk that day.

This includes spending time in packed and confined spaces, or before visiting people who are at higher risk of severe illness if they get COVID 19.

Ministers and scientists have said that the United Kingdom is protected from other ways of infections because of the high take-up of boosters.

The Delta variant also hit the United Kingdom before the rest of Europe, so there’s a higher rate of population immunity.

Experts say Plan B, which includes measures including compulsory face masks and working from home, will not be required.

Meanwhile, the booster jab is supposed to be ready for the under 40s inside weeks.

A Government spokesperson said that taking a free rapid lateral flow test would give peace of mind that you’re likely to be infectious and able to spread COVID 19, and the spokesperson said it remains essential to get vaccinated and continue to take other preventative steps such as frequent hand washing, wearing a face mask and keeping areas ventilated when meeting people indoors.

One in three people who are contaminated with COVID 19 don’t experience symptoms but a lateral flow test would allow them to avoid making others sick.

According to a poll, it comes as almost half of UK adults supported an indefinite lockdown for unvaccinated people.

About 45 per cent said they would want those without a COVID jab to have permanent constraints on their movements in the survey for Savanta ComRes.

Savanta ComRes polled 2,184 UK adults between 19 and 21 November.

This is a pandemic so deadly they have 24/7 advertising to remind us, but this expensive information gathering changes nothing, and we need to end this obsession with testing because it’s meaningless, and it’s just a global pass for money and control.

You really couldn’t make this up if you tried because our Government let everyone in from every disease-ridden land and then expect British people to take the test, but you can see how this is going to pan out because Christmas is coming, so take a test before you go shopping, then there will be an enormous explosion in cases because the figures will be misleading, then we’ll have more lockdowns, so predictable – next we’ll be stopped in the street and ordered to test, “Your papers please!”

Or it will be that when you pop along to your supermarket car park, the councils will have set up testing tents so that they can grab anyone gullible enough to get a test done then and there. All they did was pop out for some shopping, but no matter, “Let’s get you seated in the tent and you swabbed asap, forget the shopping for now”.

The Home Office Orders Councils To Care For Unaccompanied Migrant Children

Councils will be forced to take migrant children into their care systems as Kent gets overwhelmed following a record 4,000 making the perilous crossing this month.

Unaccompanied migrant children were previously moved around the UK based on a voluntary scheme to lessen the impact of migrants crossing the English Channel on Kent County Council.

But more than 200 councils could now be forced to take on migrant children unless they’ve got a good reason why not.

It comes as Home Secretary Priti Patel confirmed talks over possible joint British-French sea patrols in the Channel that would strive to stop and return migrants were ongoing.

Roger Gough, Tory leader of Kent county council which took 247 children this year, told BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme that it was the right thing to do, but Nick Forbes, Labour leader of Newcastle county council called the plan a blunt tool that wouldn’t suit every council.

Roger Gough added, 247 young people came into their care and they transferred 150 into other councils, and that they’ve had two occasions last year and earlier this year when they’ve indicated they can’t take young people because they weren’t able to offer safe and effective care at that time.

Nick Forbes, Labour leader of Newcastle county council, revealed the local authority has taken about 27 migrant children recently.

He added they originally agreed they’d take six, but took an additional ten, and they’ve taken 16 from Kent. In addition, they’ve had seven who arrived as adults but when assessed turned out to be children.

He said that they’ve taken 27 in the last year, and that they’re happy to do that, and that it was part of national responsibility, and that burden shouldn’t fall to some councils.

Nick Forbes said the problem with forcing children to take migrant children is that it’s a blunt tool.

He added that some councils have existing high levels of looked after children in their own areas. Some councils have real difficulties obtaining social workers, and he said that he thought what’s really happened is the reverse and that they’ve seen councils who’ve got several children in the system making offers to take more. It’s a matter of political preference.

He maintained there are 15 councils that have not taken on any migrant children, and that he wholly acknowledges the situation in Kent but it’s not fair to punish councils with a very large part. There are good reasons availability of foster care beds for example, and they want to assure a long term strategy.

The number of migrants crossing the Channel hit a record 4,019 this month, surpassing the previous high of 3,879 in September, with this year’s total now a record-breaking 23,761.

All this does really make you question who the Government serve these days because it’s certainly not the British people, but they’re quite willing to take in migrants when the British people can’t even see a doctor, dentist, and people are dying in ambulances because A&E is overcrowded, and there are countless British Nationals who are homeless, with many struggling to feed themselves or keep warm. Meanwhile, we get taxed to death, and beyond.

The mainstream political party’s don’t represent the British people or our values and culture, and they’re just trying to replace us with migrants who will work for less money, that’s until they see the writing on the wall and start challenging the Government for more, then what will happen with them?

However, services in Kent, particularly child services have been struggling for years due to illegal migration, whether by lorry or boat. This is just Government deception and incompetency and it’s not a new thing, but it is getting more serious.
